There must come a time in the life of a man when he makes transition from childhood to manhood, that transition is a critical factor in the life of an individual, a family and the whole nation.

Leadership is for men, leadership is not for boys. The things that make a man are what he thinks, how he understands and perceives life and the things that he says. What makes a man a man is not essentially his physical build although that is an important part of it, but you see, you can have someone with the mind of a child trapped in the body of a man.

Sometimes, we meet male adults that we think are men but in their thinking they are still boys. Leadership is for men, real men not children. When something is wrong with a man, something will be wrong with the family, with the society, with the whole nation and if you are a man reading this today

You and I today have opportunity over time to develop our perception of life, to develop our level of wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Those are the things that turned a child into a man. WISDOM describes his mental development, STATURE describes his physical development, FAVOUR with God describes his spiritual development, and FAVOUR with man describes his social development.

The secret of our transition from childhood to adulthood is development and one important area in which we must develop is in our mental ability. Every man in order to fulfill his destiny as a leader must of necessity acquire specific skills. We must develop expertise in a particular area of life.

When the iron is blunt, we will waste a lot of strength trying to cut down trees. Abraham Lincoln former American president said, ‘if I have ten hours to cut down a tree, I will spend the first six hours sharpening my axe’. For every man to fulfill his destiny, he must take time to sharpen his axe by taking tutoring in a particular line of business or profession and we must seek to become experts in such an area. Lack of skill robs us of our potential for leadership. Do you see a man that is diligent in his business, he will stand before kings he will not stand before mere men.

Being a man is a position of responsibility and you must prepare to be responsible. Responsible for your family, responsible for the society, responsible for this whole nation and to be able to do that you must acquire specific skills and become an expert in your area of work.
