May be your most important enemy and challenge is not unseen forces, it is ignorance. How much do you know about the things that are most important to you in life, how much do you know about money and how to make it, how much do you now about health, how much do you now about marriage, about work, about relationships, about business and all the things that are important to you.

Knowledge can set you free from poverty, from poor health, career failure and many other problems. How much therefore are you willing to invest to acquire this knowledge? Investment is the key to achievement. Wise people value information over material thing, they invest more in knowledge than in perishable materials, they invest more on books than they do on cloths and  an investment in knowledge is an investment in yourself. When you change your thinking you change your life.

I challenge you today to identify that area of your life where you need to see and experience an upgrade and buy a book, go buy a cassette on a topic that has to do with this area. Many years ago I read a book titled, ‘Tough Times Never Last but Tough People Do’ by Robert R. Schuler. In that book I read a statement: Attitude is more important than Fact, in order words what you think and how you feel is more important than what is happening to you. Therefore choose to be happy and to be expectant and things will begin to change. It’s your turn  to experience a transformation in your life.

You have heard it said that knowledge is power. I have discovered  that you can learn anything you need to learn to achieve any goal you have set for yourself. That person that you see in that position where you want to get to, knows something that you don’t know and all you have to do is to be a committed learner.

The beginning of the journey to knowledge is goal setting. What do you want o achieve, where do you want to go to, what do you want to have, what do you want to become. Once that is decided, and since decision determines destiny then you can know exactly the kind of knowledge you need to get to that position.

What are your financial goals, your health goals, your marital goals and your career goals? You cannot read every book and you cannot attend every seminar. Once you define your goals, it will dictate the kind of books you will be able to read. If you read consistently in one line of career in two to three years, you join the top 10 per cent in your field, in five years you join the top three per cent and in ten years you join the top one per cent in the country.

We know that popular saying that Knowledge is Power but the truth is knowledge is only potential power. It is knowledge that is applied that actually releases power. When you are able to use knowledge to create value that will benefit someone to the extent they will be willing to pay you, that kind of knowledge is ‘Power’, not all knowledge is valuable.

Most of what people learn in the university is useless in the real world, many university graduates have suddenly realized that people may not be willing to pay for the specific knowledge they acquired while in school. However, if they are willing to adapt their knowledge to bring benefit to others, to solve problems for others then they can succeed in their careers.

So, I challenge you today to process the knowledge that you acquire, explore different ways of using this knowledge to solve problems for others. Can you use it to provide clothing, can you use it to provide transportation, can you use it to provide housing, can you use it to solve problems for people and to improve in their relationships. Don’t forget you must upgrade your computer everyday. Read a new book, listen to another tape, attend a seminar, ask someone some questions, learn something new, increase your level of skill and your level of expertise become the best in your field. Upgrade your computer everyday.
