Oceanic Bank wins bank of the Year Award

For a bank that has indeed proved itself to be the toast of many Nigerian investors, Oceanic Bank International Plc has won the 2006 bank of the Year Award in London. The award which is being organized by The Banker magazine in London is a subsidiary of the Financial Times of London.
The Banker magazine, an internationally acclaimed publication is involved in providing coverage and analysis of banking activities globally, and has indeed carved a niche for itself in doing so since 1926.
Presenting the award to the CEO of the bank, Chief Cecilia Ibru, Stephen Timewell, Editor-in chief, The Banker, explained that the 2006 awards recognized excellence in 137 countries, along with eight regional citations including the Global Bank of the Year.
According to the magazine, organizers of the award explained that the criteria for assessment derived from detailed responses by the banks to a comprehensive questionnaire. “Our global editorial team reflects not only on the latest results, growth rates and performance data over the previous period but also technology, acquisitions and strategic development”.
