The second half of 2007 has been no doubt hyper active with the influx of public offers into the market, as well as released company results. Talking about results, CCNN and NBC recently released some results which were impressive. The breakdown are as below.
Nigerian Bottling Company Plc.
The Coca-Cola company released it half year result for the period ended June 30, 2007. In the result, turnover grew by 12.55 percent, from N30.33 billion in 2006 to N34.10 billion in 2007. Profit before tax increased significantly by 733 percent, from N0.24 billion in 2006 to N2.00 billion in 2007.
Consequently, after tax profit climed upwards from N0.51 billion in 2006 to N1.67 billion in 2007. The stocks is already rallying points on the floor of the exchange, and is expected to continue in the weks ahead.
Cement Company of Northern Nigeria.
The cement manufacturers also released their half year result and this was very impressive. In the result, turnover grew by 37 percent from N3.32 billion in 2006 to N4.57 billion in 2007. Profit before tax grew by 131 percent, from N0.098 billion in 2006 to N0.23 billion in 2007. Profit after tax was similar, as this figure increased from N0.07 billion in 2006 to N0.18 billion in 2007, an increase of about 170 percent.
The company is currently offering a rights issue to raise more funds for expansion and increase in productivity.
