Nigerian Stock exchange. Recently released results

The stock market was flooded last week with the results of some quoted companies. Some declared dividends, while some gave a hint as to what their full year results would look like. Below are some of the results released.

Unity Bank Plc

The bank released its full year result for the period ended June 30, 2007. In the result, turnover increased by about 138 percent, from N5.00 billion in 2006 to N11.90 billion in 2007. Profit before tax increased from N0.46 billion to N2.3 billion, representing an increase of 401 percent.

Consequently, profit after tax increased from N0.41 billion in 2006 to N1.37 billion in 2007, indicating an increase of about 235 percent. At the end of the day, the company declared a bonus of 1 new share for every 10 previously held. the company register closes on October 9, 2007.

Conoil Plc.

The petroleum company released its half year result for the period ended June 30, 2007. In the result, turnover dipped by 20 percent, from N41.10 billion in 2006 to N32.80 billion in 2007. Profit before tax also fell from N1.62 billion in 2006 to N1.23 billion in 2007.

After tax profit for the period was no better, as this figure fell 21 percent, from N1.10 billion in 2006 to N0.86 billion in 2007.

 

Guiness Nigeria plc

The brewery giant also was not left out, as the company released its full year result for the period ended June 30, 2007. In the result, turnover grew 16 percent, from N53.60 billion in 2006 to N62.20 billion in 2007. Profit before tax moved northward from N11.40 percent in 2006 to N14.80 billion in 2007.

Profit after tax also moved up from N7.44 billion in 2006 to N10.60 billion in 2007, representing an increase of about 42 percent. The company has proposed a dividend of N4.50 per share.
