After observing the Thursdays “workers day” public holiday, the market closed toadays trading, showing a downward trend with regards to Wednesdays All-Share Index and Market capitalisation, as both went down to 59,124.87 base points and N11.430 trillion respectively as against Wednesdays 59,663 base points and N11.534 trillion . A total of 14,210 deals was recorded as against previous 17,963. A volume of 519.511 million shares Valued at N10,383,545,239.62 were traded as against Wednesdays 810.208 million unit shares which was traded at a value of N14.010 billion. The increase in activity level recorded yesterday was not sustained as the market turned back to previous bearish direction.

The market activity chart was led by UBA having traded 78,547,124 shares worth N4,284,270,173.18; second was INTERENERGY INSURANCE with 41,547,966 unit shares traded at N207,342,814.16; third was UNIVERSAL INSURANCE stocks trading 40,468,846 shares valued at N118,665,737.30; fourth was PRESCO which traded a volume of 25,368,539 unit shares valued at N475,406,420.86; while TRANSCORP traded with a volume of 22,033,324 shares worth N63,224,660.17 to be on the fifth position of the activity chart.

The top gainers chart shows that: GUINNESS ranked first after gaining N3.06 to close at N132.57; second was GCAPPA that gained N1.41 to close at N29.80; third was ARBICO which gained N1.40 to close at N29.44; fourth was DANGOTE FLOUR gaining N1.39 to close at N29.32; while FIRSTBANK also gained N1.39 to close at N42.50 to occupy the fifth position.
On the other hand the losers chart shows that: ETI lost the most by losing N5.99 to close at N244.00; second worst loser was WAPCO for shedding N2.70 to close at N51.32; third was UACN for shedding N2.27 to close at N51.00; fourth was ASHAKACEMENT which lost N2.03 to close at N38.98; while fifth was BETAGLASS which did better by losing only N1.26 to close at N24.04
