Data from the Nigerian Stock Exchange today (10/07/2008), shows that the market closed upwards with an All Share Index of 54,826.00 points as against yesterdays 54,601.91 points. There was a total of 17,650 deals involving a volume of 939,158,263 unit shares valued at N5,601,986,859.80; as against yesterday’s 19,276 deals involving a volume of 1,554,709,458 unit shares valued at N12,917,304,806.57. While the Market Capitalisation took another upward glide to close at N10,884,331,713,442.50, as against yesterday’s N10,839,843,970,827.58. Safe for the 8.44 percent decline in total number individual transactions also involving a 39.6 percent in volume of unit shares traded today, all other index were on the up side by the close of trading activities today.

The market movers of the day volume wise includes: (1) IANINSURE which traded with a volume of 529,054,052 unit shares valued at N471,180,241.08; (2) FIRSTINLND with a volume of 55,688,640 unit shares valued at N416,876,045.67; (3) FIDELITYBK traded with a volume of 34,383,921 unit shares valued at N348,201,788.21; (4) ASOSAVINGS traded with 30,141,601 unit shares valued at N128,682,234.25; (5) OCEANIC traded with 22,244,159 unit shares valued at N519,746,916.14.

The top price gainers of the day includes: (1) OANDO whose stock price increased by N2.00 to close at N200.00; (2) UBN gained N1.65 to close at N34.65; (3) UBA gained N1.45 to close at N33.00; while (4) BCC gained N1.00 to close at N50.00.

On the other hand, the top price losers includes: (1) UNILEVER that lost N1.19 to close at N22.71; (2) CCNN lost N0.82 to close at N15.68; (3) BERGER lost N0.69 to close at N13.29; while (4) PRESCO lost N0.68 to close at N13.04.
