Big Treat Plc, a company listed in the Food and Beverages sub sector of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, recently made public its plans to enhance its expansion drive by securing a reach that spreads across Nigeria, affording consumers the benefit of accessing their everyday nutritional needs in their neighborhood. At the first annual general meeting held recently, the chairman of the company, Alhaji R. I. Ribadu said that the company has commenced talks with foreign associates who have expressed willingness to set up new branches before the end of the year on franchise agreement.

Speaking further, he stated that the company has commenced talks with Oando Plc, for the purpose of signing a pact that allows the use of about 56 per cent of the petroleum marketing giant’s stations spread across the country for retail outlets in order to meet the increasing demand for its products. Corroborating his position, the Managing Director of the company, Pamela Wu, stated that the company has projected an increase in its production of loaves to 30,000 units per day (200 per cent) as soon as a deal with Mr. Biggs following the stoppage of UAC brand is sealed.

The company, which started as a bakery and confectionery business but later diversified into the production of branded milk, supermarkets and fast food business, increased its turnover between 2006 year-end and 2007 year-end by 89 per cent. Similarly, the profit after tax also increased by 87 per cent in a performance that left each share earning 13 kobo, out of which 10 kobo was distributed as dividend in the 2007 fiscal year.
