Capital Oil Re-opens, AMCON to Oversee Finances, Articles | THISDAY LIVE

With AMCON having the upper hand over Capital Oil's assets, how on earth will Access bank ever recover the billions owed them by Ifeanyi Ubah. Shouldn't we be expecting a heavy write-off (exceptional item ala UBA) very soon by Access bank??!

Any reason why the share price of this bank is not enjoying the bulls/calves in recent weeks? As for Malam's post I thought once a debt is taken over by AMCON it is no longer in a bank's books, so there should be no more write-offs.

The Access debt is different from the AMCON Debt. The Access debt as 'performing' so it's not likely that AMCON took it out of Access' books...

Access does have clout with the FG, where this comes from I don't know, what I do however know is that they used to get cheap (maybe illegal) funds from government agencies, eg in 2006 EFCC had about N5b with them (recovered funds not yet remitted to the treasury).
