The minimum amount you can use to trade is like an open ended question. It depends on some factors:
1. If you already have a stockbroker then the minimum is the cost of 1 unit of any stock you want to buy on the floor of NSE. You can buy minimum of 1 unit of any stock lised on NSE - if your stockbroker will not consider this quantity as wasting his time.
2. If you do not have a stockbroker at the moment, then you will need to get one that will register you with CSCS and give you all necessary account numbers as regards your stockbrokage account. The amount required to register with a stockbroker varies from one to another. Some I have read take N10k, many says mini of N100k others are N1m-N5m. This money is also your money to be used for trading for you. It is just that they need it in their reserve to be sure you are ready for stock business. After registration you can follow first case.

For the second part of your question, you cannot trade your stock by yourself on the floor of NSE except you are a license trader belonging to aa authorised dealing member of the exchange. You will need a stockbroker which is why every investor to NSE MUST have a stockbroker. They will trade on your behalf with your mandates for buy and sales at the pricess you specify or market prices.

Default 1 kobo (stockbroker) & above 10K (new-to-stockbroker)

exactly thats what i mean. I open my cscs account with N50k with City-Code Trust & Investment. Though it varies from stock broker to stock broker. If you already have a stock broker then 1 kobo is the least nothingless.

invest wisely and avoid lost

a reply to amaka's question. stock investing looks very complex especially to a new investor, i want to assure you that it is very simple if you understand the basics. its not only a question of how much you can use to invest, i always advise my protegees that it is very important for them to get the basic foundation knowledge so that no matter the amount they are investing with, they know what and why they are investing. it has been said that no amount is too small to invest with, that is true, but it is also true that because of the recapitalization saga,a lot of stockbroking firms raised their investment bar to 500000,there are a few that are still accepting less but caution is the word as a lot of firms are duping their clients. i would advise amaka to get knowledge first before she even thinks of investing.

Thumbs down Do You Think It Is Wise To Buy Transcorp Now

I Just Heard That Transcorp Is About To Enter Into Some Business Deals Lately And This Will Boost Thier Productivity.so I Decided To Buy 10,000 Units Just In Case It Goes High. Do You Think Its Wise To Buy Now Or A Little Later?

lnvestment is about taking calculated risk,if you can get Transcorp for less than N3,and you can afford to wait for 18 to 24 months then you can go for it.lf you do not have such patience then shop for stock else where.

It is good to buy it now that is below #3,all you need to do is keep watching the stock daily because it a kind of stock to play with circle in and out for short term basis but dont get me wrong this stock is also good for a long haul only no one knows when it will be heal finally. But to make profit on a short term you must buy it big and look for 10 to 15% appreciation and cut out.

I also have it from the IPO @7.50 so i am still waiting.

Stock Investor,i am a student and i have always dreamed to be an investor. But my fears are that i cant meet the demands of some security firms as their minum investment requirement. With as low as 30 to 50k is it possible to find a good broking firm or should i just get advice and buy a Public offer when there is one?.Please i will be glad to receive a response.

I would advice you visit their registrars; Afribank Registrars, 2 Gbagada Expressway, by anthony Bustop and your complain will be taken care of
