No vex. I can't figure this out again. Even the earnings yield is 6.5%. I think I wrongly projected this on a quarterly basis.

Is the financial year ended December 2009 result out?. This is rather confusing. How can they pay a final dividend when audited result for the financial year has not been released. Please shed more light.

That is the latest trend in NSE, which started sometime last year. Some companies will just give some interim or final dividends/bonus and provide results 3 months later after closure date.. it is confusing.

Could this be attributed to the revised financial year ends of banks being December? Maybe most of the reputable ones are now engaged by banks. Also, with the Sanusi era, auditing may now be taken more seriously by the auditors / company being audited.

You can make dividend or bonus announcements anytime. It is however subject to the necessary regulatory and shareholder approvals. Its after the approvals that payment can be made.

Expect delayed audited reports due to the uniform year end by banks. Manufacturing and the insurance companies companies will be hardest hit because of their limited financial power to pay the external auditors.

Default Re: Nigerian Breweries

This stock seems to be on the march again to the 70 Naira mark. I have had some units of this stock for a long time which i average down at 50 Naira. I have refused the temptation to sell because i consider it as a retirement stock. Of recent, i have started considering GTB and First Bank as retirement stocks. My strategy has always been to swap a retirement stock for another retirement stock. Selling this stock for either GTB or First Bank will enable me buy the required quantity that i want of either of them.

NB seems to have refused to breach the 73 Naira mark. So, wetin una advise?.

Disclosure: I currently have some GTB bought at 18.01 Naira on monday but lack of funds has prevented me from getting the required quantity.
