Default Sterling?

You mean you bought sterling bank? Any particular reason why u chose sterling? In terms of price per share, it is the lowest in the banking industry. Are their financials exciting or prospects promising? Please share

onlyonezee, noticed they have been relatively involved in a lot of issuing activities. Betting that their 2007 results will be good. If the bet wins could easily gain 50% by year end.

Perhaps you know some other things. Please let me know.

Ihail every one here cos am a new member.

As per NB shares i honestly feel those who have it should still hold itdue to the following reasons

- the company is really doing great as a company better than any brewery in Nigeria
- they have the biggest brewery in Africa now, i.e the brewery in Enugu which produces 25% of the beer produced in Nigeria

- the Enugu project was actually responsible for the drop in price cos they were paying back the loans wit interest, they just finished paying this loan just in 2007 and that was when there was an improvement in there stock price

-Now that they are not servicing any loan the shre price will definitly appreciate

I fully support this analysis 'cos the worse period for NBL is definitely over. Most especially that nobody within the BOD of the organisation is using its success/popularity to propagate his/her political ambition. Investors may likely enjoy bumper harvest soon. Good luck.

Thanks for this insight. Though too late as I sold my holding. However will watch if I can get some more should the price drop a little or I get more data with respect to the value of the depth of the dept repayments. Or do do you have what the debt repayment knocks of the turnover.

What effect will this result have on the price of NB?. At what price point is it advisable to bail out.

The result is fantastic, above expectation. But, as no bonus was mentioned, bonus speculators are already checking out, thereby slightly depressing the price on Friday (just as non-announcement of bonus depressed price of WAPCO - but much more seriously). With the results, it has now become one of the cheapest stocks in the market - with a P/E ratio of about 20 times, the lowest P/E ratio it has attained since 2001. I am of the view that, by the closure date for dividend payment in mid-May 2008, the price should slightly surpass 60 Naira.

Good result definitely, my guess is that it will hoover around the 55 naira mark. The price may eventually succumb to massive dumping by institutional investors waiting to cash in on capital growth compared to the relatively paltry final dividend they will otherwise receive. For short term investors, it may be wise to sell now.

This is actually one of the cheapest stock in the market now trading at a forward PE of 16.5 This is under the assumption that they will grow their PAT by just 25% which i believe is very conservative.
I recommend a strong buy for olong term but wait to see if it can be gotten at a cheaper price.

Nigerian Breweries ends debt repayment, records 74 per cent profit rise

Guardian Newspapers

The result is no longer news, but includes other stories that are new to me

Debt repaid on Ama Brewery
Farouz drink introduced (abeg which one be dis one?)
Lagos and Kadunary brewery to be overhauled for increased productivity.

Farouz is a softdrink. tastes a little like Greensands. Had it the last time i was in Nija. Didnt know it was linked to NB though.

What has been the reception so far for the drink? Why did they not use a better name than Farouz? I can just imagine Apache telling the bar tender to bring him 2 Farouzes, one for him and another for his okpeke

..lol.
i did'nt think Fayrouz was indegenous. i encountered the drink in Egypt and Saudi Arabia as well. i was of the opinion it was imported when i saw it at home. Or could it be the other way round (Nija exporting the drinks to Egypt and Saudi)? Good for NB.
