Please does anyone have any info concerning International Breweries? I recently read that they're planning to come to the market with a N1.4b PO at 87k/share. They currently sell for 94k/share. The article also said that German investors have already opted for 60% of the shares on offer.
Let's see what we can find out about this company b4 the PO. Twuld be sad if this becomes another Afroil story for many of us - I remember mentioning that foreign investors culd be coming in in February when the price was still 40k but unfortunately, there were no takers.

i have not heard about the public offer.
if the german investment is in form of equity and not debt, then it will be a good thing to buy into the company.

Can't find the article right now but I think the Germans were coming in as equity investors. If I hear anything else, I'l keep you posted.

Taipna - make sure you do your research very welll before putting your money in International Breweries. I know this company very well dating back to the late 80s. It is being run as a family business and that's why they have refused to grow.

International Breweries Plc has applied for a Public offer with a value of N120 billion; there'll be 1.6 billion shares at N75/share.

Notwithstanding tis report, not a dine would go there from me until their success is relatively evident. Some companies go to market so that they can have sufficient money to pay off any of their investors who may not be interested again.

That may sound funny but let us consider transcorp. Upon all their noise, the only success they achieve to me is to pay off Dangote.

I feel it is better to join this kind of train when it has started moving slowly. Public offer is not the best for any prospectus investors, buy secondary, at least it will help you to sell at any time when you eventually get ired with the investment. But with PO, you may never set your eyes on your certificate (laugh).

I'm just hearing that Transcorp has paid off Dangote. Is this for real, or are you imagining it. Let's see where you got the facts.

But on the other hand, I completely agree with you on International breweries. If you must buy, then buy from the secondary market and be ready to abscound when the going gets rough.

Anyone has the prospectus and subscription form for the International Breweries Plc offer? If you do, can you please make them available here? I can't seem to lay my hands on them and I have checked the web site of Sterling Capital (the issuing house)

you are absolutly right, uptill now they cant even advertise the ipo on the t.v for all to see. i even have to drive down to the sterling bank branch, that is the issuing house, and they dont have any information to give infact they are not even aware of the offer not to talk of knowing that they are the issuing house, from all indication they are looking for suckers to hang their money. i saw the form online there was no focast on dividen pay out for the next 3years. or when they are likely to pay. look at transcorp now after all the noise. the price have fallen

It's quite interesting to read the comments about intl breweries. the company has been around for a while. it has fumbled and wobbled through the seasons.
I think things become interesting when you have core investors coming to shapen things in such under-perfoming companies. Afroil and Eternal oil and gas will lend credence to that.
There are a lot of factors to consider nontheless. with their relatively unknown products, will they be able to break into their target market which is dominated by Nig. breweries and Guiness?
Are they planning to start producing some hit- beverages or importing them from Germany?
Whichever way you go, some will smile while others lick their wounds.

it looks good like every other offer out there. the problem is that there is no plans for dividends, bonus. The first 2 years also look pretty dull in terms of earnings per share..
I am not interested but who knows...it might rise..afterall its a penny stock

Read the Prospectus, doesn't sound / look too good, but at its price the up side is better than its down side, especially considering the German take in it...
I am going into this one prepared to lose.
