Thanks a lot for this info. From all i have read from the prospectus i guess the best option would be to buy their shares from the secondary market. It is too high a risk buying the IPO as (you know) your certificate will take very long to appear. The risk with the secondary market at least is manageable.

Food for thought.
Have any of you looked at the volume of stock of International breweries been sold on any day? my point is that the stock is very illiquid. So for you guys that are thinking of buying from the secondary market, You will only be able to buy when people that have verified their cert from this PO are ready to sell. In other words, you might place the order and not get your orders effected

Yes, it's an illiquid stock; all the more reason why I will wait till I see some volume before I jump in.

The point is - you will be buying from people who bought from the public offer that have verified their certificates, and are selling because the price have reached their exit point. In other words, by the time the stock becomes available for you to buy, you might be getting it at its peak price.
If you agree with this, then why don't you be the seller at this point instead of been the buyer i.e buy from the public offer and then sell(note, this is only relevant to those that have made up their minds to buy this stock, but prefer to buy it from the secondary market)

Question Thinking aloud...

Bought the IPO, I think I will pick up some on the secondary market as well... IB is an experiment.

- NSE market psychology.

- In the event that they are fully subscribed, it will gain- before the share certs get mailed out.

- Then sell the shares bought from the secondary market- as the certs come in.

- AND if it is not fully subscribed, best case I get stuck with the shares (primary and secondary) worst case it goes south...

Hey at 87k and 94k, this is a test run...

I keep reading people saying "waiting for certificates to be mailed out". are you factoring the recent quest by SEC to eliminate certificates? also the directive that certificates should be mailed out not later than 6-8 weeks from the conclusion of an offer.
I hope you didn't miss out the column for the CSCS number and name of stockbroker at the top corner of the IB offer form

Question

Yep, did all that- the SEC "decision" concerns mainly Financial Sector companies (Banks etc).

I do not know of any case when shares were credited to CSCS yet and fact is there is still a gap/window between when technical suspension is lifted and when an investor has access to shares from PO. This is the window I seek to cash in on- IF...

By the way, another window exist between when share is put on technical suspension and books closed (registrars) to when lifted again. But this window is only relevant when one already has shares of the company in question- these are loop holes if you have spare cash. (This is perhaps another discussion all to gather...)

I'm curious about this 2nd window you refer to when you already have the shares. Is it a case of selling a stock at a premium when compared to the official price on the floor? For instance like selling Japaul right now for 8 Naira per share unofficially though it is on TS at 6.02 on the floor...?
