Guinness Nigeria Plc announces Board Meeting; 2012 Q3 unaudited accounts tops agenda

The Company has notified The Exchange of the meeting of its Board of Directors scheduled to hold on Thursday, April 26, 2012, for the purpose of considering its third quarter unaudited accounts for the period ended March 31, 2012.

The company further states that, the accounts will be reported under the Statements of Accounting Standards applicable in Nigeria rather than International Financial Reporting Standard, because its financial year runs between July 1, to June 30, as confirmed by the Nigerian Accounting Standards Board.

Guinness Nigeria Plc. has notified The Exchange that following the meeting of its Board of Directors on Thursday, 26th April 2012, Mr. Devlin Hainsworth, the Managing Director/CEO of Guinness Nigeria Plc. will, effective 1 July 2012, assume the role of CEO and Group Managing Director of East African Breweries Limited, (EABL), a subsidiary of Diageo Plc. Mr. Seni Adetu, who is currently the CEO and Group Managing Director of EABL will resume as Managing Director/CEO of Guinness Nigeria also with effect from 1 July 2012.

Adetu has led East African Breweries Limited since July 2009. Prior to this role he served as Managing Director of Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited, which he joined in August 2006 from the Coca-Cola Company. During his time in Ghana, Adetu led the integration of Guinness Ghana and Ghana Breweries Limited, creating a winning culture and driving a strong market share growth. Under Adetu’s leadership, EABL has risen to become the most capitalized company listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange and a clear leader in the East African region. During his tenure, EABL has continued to excite consumers and earn the trust and respect of investors and stakeholders alike. The EABL beer portfolio has grown and the business has witnessed a transformational performance in spirits. The business has also rapidly expanded with great momentum built behind EABL’s total adult beverage strategy across the consumer spectrum with the innovation agenda being deemed as leading edge under Adetu’s stewardship in this market.

EABL also recently celebrated the successful acquisition of Serengeti Breweries Ltd in Tanzania.
