Sir Bivins1, there are definitely prospects for the company but my analysis is not a BUY or SELL recommendation for anyone.They already have several Telecom Operators as their clients.
If the power sector and security situation in the country improves, this company might unleash its full potential soon.

The firm is seriously diluted! Getting funds and converting them to shares. Anyway na very long term people go enjoy the firm!

Definitely the share structure at the moment will lead to a lot of dilution.

Even though I am aware of many things in the Nigerian Telecom Industry, I do not own any shares in any company in this sector listed on NSE(Starcomms, NCR,etc.)

Globally many Telecom Operators are embracing Managed Service Contracts in order to cut their Operating Expenditure. So companies like IHS stand to gain a lot in the value chain.

However, in the short term considering the security situation in the country and the power sector challenges, this company and their peers had serious challenges delivering value to the Operators in Nigeria.
They have other clients in West African countries where those challenges are a bit better.

This company has been able to attract FDI into the country. I am impressed by how innovative they have been and that is the prospects I see. I could remember when myself and Sir Oracle had a discussion sometime ago about harnessing solar power in the Northern part of Nigeria to the benefit of the country.

If you see value, buy it and don't wait. What makes you think this bearish trend will continue for the next year?

As an IT professional and knowing that the developing countries are going down the wireless route and will not have the capital to invest in fixed line copper or fiber infrastructure for access layer technologies, it seems to me that IHS are cornering a very lucrative market indeed and not just in Nigeria alone but all over the highly populated countries in Africa.

If they add co-location of datacentres and managed services into the mix, the growth potential inherent in this company is tremendous indeed. Potentially more than the growth experienced by the GSM companies IMO as they don't serve end users directly but get their money from the business class of users for whom money is neither a big deal nor regulated.

If you want to know more about what IHS service profile can become, google Telehouse and Telecity, they are the companies in mainland europe that I can compare IHS to.

What I would be interested in knowing is the terms under which these FDI is coming in (if possible) so that a reference valuation can be set on the company. With such class of owners like Wendel influencing the board and management, corporate governance shouldn't be an issue.

Its a avery capital intensive business. You need to understand the nature of the business . It cost a lot to run one base station. They know the problems and they are tackling it . I wish we would get our power reforms right. However they are taking measures and doing a lot of research and development in terms of how to handle the problems . Keep this on your watch list.
Ask yourself, How come they are getting fundng left , right and centre despite all their losses . I leave it there

For the company to be selling at present amount with negative profit after tax means there is something going for it. However I will wait for positive result before I start considering it.

In my opinion this is a disaster waiting to happen, even if they do finally achieve profitability ROE is going to be very low

I learnt a lot of lessons in the 2008 market crash. Most stocks that have big floats don't meet up the demands of the mouth to feed except the banks who are even careful on enlarging the shares now. The next thing they will start singing now is share reconstruction.
