Investing in any company controlled by them is dinner with the devil and you need to do it with a long spoon. Where you see obvious value and good fundamentals as in AFRIPRUD, yes. That is about 15% of my portfolio. I am also in UBA. Afriland is a totally different matter. I believe the failure to list the company almost 2 years after the divestment from UBA is because of some abracadabra going on. The rights issues on both AFRIPRUD and UBACAP was an attempt to take over the companies by leveraging on absentee or dead shareholders and the initial lack of publicity on the issues

The companies did not need the fund from the right issues, but that was the only way Tony could increase his holdings at an affordable price. Before I could get my right, I had to lobby my friends at the Registrars of the company and the issuing houses to the offer ie BGL and Unted Capital

NB: Transcorp is not a one-decision stock (stock you buy and hold forever eg Nestle, GTBank etc), it's a just growth stock with momentum factors re. price rally.

Wishing y'all happy many returns this week!

There are worse companies on the exchange than Elumelu's babies.

Investing in companies on the NSE is a full time job. Let us leave Uncle Tony alone.

Who saw the stock bonus issued to the directors of the respected SEPLAT?
It is published on NSE page as corporate action. Very fat helping. Some they have started seeing the remainder they will see in the coming years when they can take possession based on how good they have ran the company. These directors know how to appropriate all the goodies if they deliver something or nothing for shareholders. Tony revived Transcorp and deserves compensation like the SEPLAT directors. I hope all of them don't get too greedy and kill the companies out of greed.

What did he do to UBA? You don't rob Peter to pay Paul.

What Heirs brought to the table that warranted this huge consideration was the consession of Falomo Shopping complex which is now a bone of contention with the Lagos State govt.

I believe Tony envisaged this before he hurriedly and forcefully sold his liability to Afriland. Tony and co earned an additional dividend of almost N90 million from the shares allocated to his company when Afriland bought Heirs Real Estate.
His company also earned a technical service fee of N121 million, the 5 non-executive directors and the CEO earned over N60 million.
I guess members of the board who were seconded from Heirs ought to be paid from the technical service fees earned by Heirs.

The female CEO of the company in person of Uzoamaka Oshogwe with background in IT and Banking could not provide good answers to technical and intelligent questions wiich shareholders asked her during the AGM, her saving grace was Emmanuel Nnorom another right hand guy of Tony who is the CEO of Transcorp.

N114 million was also spent on AGM expenses, I think I can organise a far better AGM for less than N40 million.

That was in last year, 2016 AGM will cost less than N70 million.

One major reason why Transcorp has not generated good returns so far this year is due to one decision that could have been avoided.
