I wonder why the present govt is standing aside watching as a registered company is decimated in broad daylight. Makes me wonder what the identities of the 'tormentors' are?
This is serously bad for the country, if goverment wants to encourage the private sector jumpstartinmg the economy then, these forward and backward movement must stop. how do we encorage investors for the ones we are about to sell when those sold are in confusion. when Dangote and Otedola (Bluestar) bought Portharcourt refinary one thing led to the other and the offer was witdrawn, two years after the conditions of the refinaries are not better, in all excesses of Obasanjo he has the will to live above political board and take dicisions that he feels is right ( even when som are wrong) and not being pushed by political interest.

Who will want to buy trouble? Any sale will be followed by prolonged / multiple court cases.

The best solution - liquidate Nitel completely. Determine all its assets and sell all of them; hopefully in a transparent process. Thereafter, with time, we will forget that Nitel ever existed (like Nigerian Airways)

I think they will soon come to that realisation. Hopefully, sooner rather than later.

Excellent for who? Some people feed fat on NITEL. So they will do everything to ensure that government is in charge. I doubt whether Yaradua will be able to privatise any government enterprise. See the way they went U turn on PHCN. Those milking the parastatals are back in government and will not allow the privatisation to succeed.

No sensible investor will buy NITEL while government still have equity in it! We all know that the FG is the last person you want to have running business with you

@wanaj0

I completely agree with you. These national assets are nothing but huge feasts for a section of the country. Interestingly only one section -the north- rule Nigeria today and they want to keep everything national for easy reach.

Until Nigeria is well negotiated and stable, I'll stay away from Transcorp.

This company is as good as dead so my sincere advice for everyone is to stay clear because even in the next 3 years i do not see investors reaping from this company....it's just like other Federal Government Moribund business apart from the Oil sector which is booming a bit...
