But in mourning the dead, it is also a time to think of their life. For as we are often reminded, Not the reach of a mans fame nor the depth of his fortune but his ability to make a difference to humanity is what matters. Bassey Udo Ndiokho (1939-2013) worked for the UAC of Nigeria PLC for close to three decades and retired as its Chairman/Managing Director (1993-1999).

Our local contemporaries then were CFAO, UTC, SCOA, John Holt, AG Leventis etc. It is to his credit and memory that he laid the foundations that today these enterprises are not our peers.

In hindsight, it is easier to understand the challenges we faced and the adequacy of his leadership response. He initiated the evolution of UACN Property Development Company PLC, acquired CAP Plc, Grand Cereals Limited, and Spring Waters Nigeria Limited into the group. These were inspired judgement calls and transformative purchases that underpin UACN growth today.

He was not perfect, well, who amongst us is? He was clearly under-estimated! Bassey will have an honoured place in the memory and history of UACN. To his family, I offer condolence but also the respect and gratitude of UACN. To my colleagues, I say, we owe him a duty to succeed.

They might be competing with Four Mills. Even then, what do you think will change from Livestock Feeds under UACn different from when it was under Pfizer Products back in the days?

Flour Mills has 51% control of Premier Feeds situated in Sapele and Ibadan with reported Turn-over of N23b.

Please, read Flour Mills 2012 annual report. Invest wisely by digging deeper into any stock with rosy figures. I have a feeling that most of our collegues on SMN never bother to read annual reports of coys on which they express opinion. Benjamin Graham suggested reading annual reports from the BACK PAGE.

Happy investing.

Then livestock feeds will be competing with Premier feeds. Grand cereals another subsidiary of UACN is also in that line of business, so a foresee a merger of livestock feeds and Grand cereals in the future.
