pls i'd like someone to tell me exactly what is wrong with unilever and also to tell me if it is wise to buy more of their shares considering that the last time i bought the share it was 21 naira and it has dropped tremendously since then

the company in the past say 4 years have had some series of challenges which include inability to increase bottom l;ine profits and bad management, before Felix Oheiweri took over. Things are however taking shape, as the chairman of the company stated in the last shareholders meeting that teh company has been startegically repositioned to make good profits henceforth.

on buying more units, it is not a bad idea, knowing fully well that the have some strong household brands in the market.Its a good long term buy? So what knid of investor are you- short or long term?

Unilever has ben on the down side as paragon noted and i think the lastest report i read on the company indicated a loss in revenue/profit.

but this might be a time to buy when the company is down but like paragon said you have to bring up your investment plan... are you a short, medium or long term investor?

how much are you will ing to risk on the long term for high rewards? these are important questions you need to answer before you buymore.

Unilever still remains one of the best companies to buy in considering there products which is an everyday use and most of there brand are household names.I believe they are just passing through a phase which they will get over but this is an opportunity for those that have not bought into this company to take advantage of there present price.

Unilever to me is a very good buy at the moment, i learnt that the profitability challenges they faced was not as a result of any negative impact but was in fact their acquisition of knoor brand from cadbury.

I heard they borrowed to finance the purchase of the brand and had been paying off the debts. It seems they have offset the debt hence the increase in profit.

Somehow I've not taken any note of this stock. I has never been in my radar. I was just surprised to note today that it actually moved from N10 (July) to N17 (August) before settling down at around N15. That is some decent recovery.

I have had it on my radar. Wish I had bought more instead of bank shares. I expect it to hit 25 naira @ this rate.

The new MD is very good. They have relaunched almost all their products. They seem to understand the Nigerian market. They have blue band in sachets. Sunlight soap has been relaunched. I expect a lot more in terms of dividends. They have to repatriate more profit to the UK as the economy there no good.

Are this people operating in the same country as the others? even the taxation will be enough for some companies to declare...did they get some cash infusion from their UK parents during the period under review?

Na greed make me sell this one, bought cheap and intended to leave it for the longest term but had to sell when the price got to N16.

I am still hovering on this one, Pumping, abeg keep off my company!

Not bad... but after updating my bedsheet I got the following numbers; Unilever has a PE of 11.61x, which is higher than industry average of 9.95x. AG Leventis still looks attractive with a PE of 7.03x. Unilever has the highest forward dividend yield of 8.48% in contrast to industry average of 5.75% but it has the highest price to book value of 5.36x in contrast to industry average of 2.48x.

Which, in a layman's language, will mean that both Unilever and Leventis are looking good in that sector.

Leventis is looking very good, UACN has the best fundamentals... investor perception may drive up the price of Unilever but my models tell me there are better deals in the sector.

At current prices, I think Unilever will be the winning stock in this sector. There is real potential for growth.
