Well, i have just applied blindly for just about 35000 shares using Dang sugar and Dang cement as precedents. I may well be wrong and that becomes a wasted / gambled N0.5m. But then again, I am thinking whats the name of this game? the last time I checked it is called risky business.

I am not looking at what happened in the past, I have to go away and console myself with a Warren Buffet quote "If past history was all there was to the game, the richest people would be librarians"

Again, I may fall into a different stata to others, I am in for the long haul.

"Most people get interested in stocks when everyone else is. The time to get interested is when no one else is. You can't buy what is popular and do well." -Warren Buffet

Call me loony if you like

But seriously NASCON came to the general market at N5.25 or something, it's currently N15 or so (though trending downwards, I wish I could short the Gidi mkt) so can't really be called a failure, it spent the last 6 month+ above the N5 level. As for the .. er offer perpertrated at N22, no comment.

There is of course the posibility that Dangote has decided to take the mkt for all he can keeping maybe Obajana private. Who knows , you pay your money, you take your chances or walk away, no-one ever lost a penny not buying a stock.

Quantity of shares. Those that requested for the least will be allocated most in proportion of their request.

Default Bagco

at 3.90 naira is it a good idea to buy their shares? I'm looking at 10,000 shares if it will be profitable.

You might want to extend most of these dates by 2 weeks since the offer was extended by 2 weeks and wasn't factored into these timelines that were contained in the prospectus. so you might look at trading on the floor by end dec or early jan 08

Bagco is the most expensive IPO in Nigerian history. Buy at your own peril. It could turn out to be worse than the N90 PO of Oando in 2004. (How has that worked out?)

I think BagCo will dip in price slightly post offer but is a potential investors' toast considering the backbone they have on ground. They are planning to repay loans but yet projecting profit for next year. That shows they used the loan wisely and acquired structures are already good to go!!!!!!!!!1

Gengen will become famous soon enough
Default Interesting Bagco Offer

Bagco's offer is mainly for repayment of bank loans. The plan is to use 90% of the offer is repay loans. The points to note are:
  • Could it be that these loans were obtained with high interest rates?
  • Which bank(s) is/are Bagco owing? Could it majority be from Zenith, who are the issuing house? Note the issuing house now underwrites 80% of the offer. If the major part of the loan is from Zenith, it will just convert its loan to equity if it is undersubscribed.
  • What led to the company owing this much? Have they recovered from the cause of this?
  • There is also a need to compare it with other companies that survived Nigeria's high banking rates.
  • On the other side, conversion of loans to equity might be a smart that can lift the weight of high bank interests and make the company more profitable. I know some companies did same some years back.

I bought the dangote flour public offer before I receive my cscs number, is there any way I could ask them to credit this account instead of receiving by mail?

Thanks in advance.
