i got the same alert yesterday.
well the wahala in ti all is that more people wont have access to the shares, the minimum might range from at least 50,000units and since its going to come out at N15.... do mathsand see if you can afford it.

the sad news again is that one would have to wait till its listed on the floor and by that tme you would be buying at only God knows what price.

pity.

check out the reason, it will nolonger come as IPO, the company and SEC could agree on a good price!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if that is the case, the private placement can be as much as N15, but i do not think the minimum subsription will be as high as we thought.
The reason is,he intended the offer for the public, but due to the fact that SEC is protecting us, which is good, he decided to go private, am sure he will still want to include the general public despite the offer being private..
it is simple, they will make the offer popular but will not do a direct advert so as to keep within the limit of the rule, then the minimum subscription will not be high so that middle and informed low class can also benefit.
that way u and i might be able to buy into the coy!
just my view

This is my problem, how are we going to know when the private placement starts, and the minimum we can buy. If any one know how to go about please advice us. Because as for me I don’t know how this private placement works, are we going to get it through our broker or what?

I know what you mean because private placements are in most cases a hush-hush affair. We only get to know about them only when they are over. If we are vigilant, keep our ears to the ground and share information, there is no way we will miss out on this one. Watch this thread!

Default Dangote Flour Private palcement

Hi Guys,

iit came as a shock to me that the sale of dangote flour was going to be a pp instead of a PO. i was already counting the millions i will make from the deal.
Anyway, i know that a goldfish has no hiding place and Dangote flour won't be an exception.
just keep your ears to the ground.
speaking about PPs, i have realised that this is another very good way of making good monies.
does anyone know of any coming up especially for Insurance companies.
i heard leadway assurance are thinking of having one

If this is true, then one must collect IMF loan for this PP.

To me, that's the best insuarnce company out there!!!!

Will be surprise if they do a private placement. This is coming so soon after the IFC capital injection!

Wanaj0, you sound so excited about this PP (Leadway's). Can you shed more light on the reason for your excitement? I haven't been a huge fan of insurance stocks, infact I don't have any for now, though I'm beginning to look at investing in the sector.

Well, Leadway is one of the best insurance companies out there. They have investment in the niche sectors. That's why Odukale is on the board of major companies. The investment portfolio of Leadway is massive. That's why IFC was attracted to them.

I am also not a fan of insurance sectors. However since current government policy is in their favour you must get attracted to them. Compulsory Life insurance for all employees is one of them. Local content policy of insurance risk in the oil industry is another. Now look at the compulsory insurance for properties also. Think about the health insurance scheme. The opportunities are just to many!!!!!

Default Dangote Public Offer Out September 3

It has been reported that Dangote Flour's PO will now open on September 3, 2007.
In total, 1.25 billion units of the company's shares will be available @ N15 on the basis of "offer for sale" as opposed to "offer for subscription." This means that the proceeds of the sales will go to the shareholder who owns the shares instead of the company as would be the case if it were offer for subscription.
If this story is confirmed, it will end speculations that the offer will be by way of PP.
I beleive that members of the forum are all ready to go!

From the onset it was clear that it was an offer for sale (just like the DSR). Difference now is that it is a private placement hence not subject to all the stringent conditions that a public offer will be subjected to.

It is Dangote group that is selling part of their holdings in the company. One thing that is not clear is the plan for listing on the NSE.

Can we ask why Dangote is divesting?
It is clear that from the DSR sales, the money may be used to finace the purchase of NNPC refineries. Where is he targetting now?The telecomm roll out?
Lets see if we can solve this riddle!
