Cadbury is very attractive at its present price but the hanging clouds on the stock as it relates to the unresolved issue of over statement of accounts which we are yet to know how it will end.

The case has gone to court, and the current results are still not announced, last yr full year and this yy quarterlies, are all outstanding.

I dont know how this one will play out. We are waiting on the sidelines.

I think the market has price inn the current crisis that is why the price has been dabbling bw N30 and N36, with my resistant level at N30, But I will take a position at a bargain price of N30 with 20% of my budget for cardbury,If there is an offer ,then put a bid at N25 with 50% of the budget (with DFM coming very soon, there will definetely be a sell off because investors would definetly like to partake in the IPO),then play wait and see pending the resollution of the current crisis. I stronly believe it will recover by january because of the end year result which is 31 DEC. (personal Opinion)

For those of us who bought Cadbury at N57.50 more than two years ago, we can ill afford to share in the positive sentiments expressed here. We hope the predictions come true. But we know where we were more than two years ago and where we are now! He who wears the shoe knows where it pinches.

Geeman
Please,I am not bearish on cardbury,I only want take an advantage for what seems personally to me as an oppurtunity which may be wrong because no body can time the market right. The problem they are having cannot be permanent. The bulls dont pray for set back in companies they have taken position but the bears do pray by going short on the same companies in order to take part or take some profits.

Cadbury Schweppes owns 50.02% of the total shares of Cadbury Nigeria (and they're pretty much at the helm of affairs now - that was why the fraud was discovered), hence the primary reason, in my opinion, the share price hasn't gone lower. As for the case being in court, ...God knows. It may also be settled out of court..who knows.

Isn"t that a good reason to start accumulating those shares? (I may be wrong but i have started buying). Irrespective of the current crisis, the product are still in the market: Bournvita,Richoo, trebor, buttermint etc. The market has discounted those crisis already.(my opinion)

Didnt I hear someone quote that 'risk is good'?

With that in mind, I still feel this is a good time to take some calculated risk on Cadbury, the company is not likely to fall much lower than this.

For those that bought at a high price, its good to average now cause if this situation is resolved in court or out of it, expect the stock price to hit the ceiling.

I have been waiting for Cadbury to hit 29 before making some purchases but with the maximum drop on friday, it seems the timing will do here.
Things have gone really bad for this company, it can only get better.

I ALSO dont see cadbury going lower than N30, so this might a good time to buy, generaly bears have made the market so difficult to study, but i strongly think that we might have bull in charge this week with crusader, transcorp among my buy list.

Have anyone heard any news about cadbury?
Hasn't anything changed since the court case was initiated?
Have they announced any other results since last year when this case broke out?

Thumbs down

Can anyone give any fundamental/ Technical reason why Cadbury is a good buy? Fine, we know that Cadbury Schweppes owns over 50% of Cadbury Nigeria or have even increased thier stake and that they are still selling Bournvita. But are they operating profitably? will the fact that
However, for whether to buy now should largely depend on when they release any of their quarterly or year end result. I will advise that you guys thread cautiously with Cadbury. You have to remember that they lost 16% of their business to Unilever with the transfer of the Knorr brand to Unilever in 2005. (Knorr brand was contributing 16% to the total turnover of Cadbury as at when it was handed over to Unilever). What have they used to fill this 16% vacuum? - Nothing.
Also, Tom Tom’s market share (which is a major brand for Cadbury) is constantly been eroded by Vicks baba blue and co. So they lost 16% of their business in 2005, we found out in 2006 that their results for the past 3 years have been overstated and they are facing very stiff competition in all the categories in which they operate in.
Add this to their current issues and you see why I advise you thread cautiously. I am eagerly awaiting any of their results, but I don't expect it to be good but at least seeing their result will let you know if buying at =N=30 is okay or whether it is even worth buying at all.
On a personal note, until Cadbury starts introducing new successful products which can add incremental growth to the company’s profit, I don’t see them doing well. (Bear in mind that for the past 3 years, they weren’t performing well which made it necessary for Bunmi Oni and Co to hide this fact in their results)

Sorry, in had wanted to say that the fact that the parent company has increased its stake in cadbury Nigeria won't result to increased sales from what they are experiencing now, niether will it help in kepping brands like Milo from Nestle and Vicks from P&G at bay. Note that these are also leading global brands/ FMCGs

In my opinion I believe cadbury still has a lot of internal restructuring to do to be able to compliment the marriage between them and their parent company.

But has anyone seen ikeja hotel at N8.20?
this stock has gained almost 200% since August and has practically deferred the current bear run in the market. What could be driving the price northwards?
I dont have any detail about the company except that it is managed by one of the Ibrus and that it probably has strong fundamentals. I'll really love to put some money there but i need an indept analysis of the company and also know if there is any likelihood that the stock will shed some weight before making an entry.

Any feelers?

@Soweto
I read the business day colimn but for me i doesn't say much and doesn't provide anything new. It looked more like a PR thing with PwC trying to vindicate themselves in awarding Bunmi Oni that award (ironically they were the same firm that confirmed the fraud)
like i had earlier mentioned that Cadbury will survive this crisis is beyond reasonable doubt at least for now. For me, the main concern is if they are operating profitably to justify an above N30 price on the exchange which personally i don't think so.
I guess when we see their financial result or any of their quaterly result (which i don't why it's taking this long), we will be able to tell
