Hello..Has anyone heard about a GoldLink Insurance PP in the offing? Understand they plan to come to list later this year....haven't heard much, but know they recently released their 06 results making some N500M profit, above average than its insurance peers.
Can anyone share some information on the PP -- if true. How can we plug in - if we should at all?

i am begining to feel that, because everybody is welcoming the idea of private placement as the best and cheapest means of becoming a shareholder, some people are trying to take advantage of that, and begin to use that as a way of frauing public, i might be wrong.
which one is goldlinks insurance? has that insurance firm survive capitalisation and re-certification going on in the firm? where is their office located? are they registered by SEC? CAC? God, please let the people that have sound info abt things like this put us thru just like the thread starter requested. thanks balaliyu for the info, i hope we all benefit fromthe responses |

This is not a scam. I got a call from my stockbrokers yesterday about this. That they are coming out within the month. For the questions raised, I will ask them to provide answers and I will post the answers on the forum. Private Placements, as you know, are addressed to select individuals to buy into a company. I like the approach of posing questions to find out more. |

Here's the link to Goldlink website with their contact details. I've sent an email to them requesting further information about the offer. I'll post it when I get it. http://www.goldlinkltd.com/contact.html. You could also give them a call on the phone numbers provided on their site.
Here's the article published by Proshare on their recent performance: http://www.proshareng.com/myproshare...ws.php?id=2614

Thanks for the link and information. I must say that while I know that looks may be deceptive, I think Goldlink is positioning itself to be acquired. They may not be able to survive in the hot insurance arena at premier division. Many other players are also out there struggling for supremacy.

I spoke to the company about 3 weeks ago and back then was told that the private placement was in the pipeline but had to be ratified at the AGM (which has already been held subsequently). Price per unit will be N1.5 and minimum application will be 1million units. Issuing house will be sterling.
Leave them your contact details and they'll let you have the prospectus once the placement begins -- the lady I spoke to took down my details and insisted she would give me a call, eventhough I told her it would be an international call... Heee heee that was a first ...

@WindyWendy, the lady I spoke to today said the prospectus and application form should be available within the next couple of weeks. She didn't offer to take down my details though, let alone give me a call
@olusolakemmy, we all seem to work quite well as a team, albeit virtal. That's the strength of this forum and thanks for all your contributions as well. I guess the question is whether or not a buy is recommended, given the minimum subscription level.

I wish to thank the managers of the website for working hard to get back online. It's good to be back! I have been out of circulation myself. I am happy that there is now confirmation that Goldlink is not a fluke afterall and more information have been supplied to buttress this fact. I need not supply any more details.
I wish to point out however that there were 71 insurance companies that made it through consolidation. Only about 28 are currently listed on the NSE. Over the next several months many more will seek to raise funds through PP and many will ultimately apply to be listed on the NSE. Should we buy into everyone of them? As always, I think the guiding principle should be that we research each company carefully and see whether or not they are worth investing in. And this forum can help with that. |

Among the 28 that are currently traded which ones are more technically sound for long term investment. We need to separate the men from the boys.
lets grade them base on their management strength, capital base and future prospect |

After waiting for what seemed like ages for further information on this goldlink PP, I finally decided to call the company again early this week, just to make enquiries. I was transferred to someone (apparently a senior guy within the company) who told me the PP has been concluded, even while the SEC approval is pending. As you can imagine, my next question was "how can that be?". He laughed and said that a lot of "big" guys had put down money for the PP and that right now they have much more money deposited than they were intending to raise thru the PP. He advised that I wait until the company is made public before I can get the shares -- NO chance of getting into the PP at all.
Not being convinced, I went ahead and called the issuing house -- sterling capital. The guy I spoke to said the PP has not yet "officially" commenced and the company has not yet issued any prospectus or application forms. On telling him what I learned from the guy at Goldlink insurance, he said that it's common practice for this sort of thing to happen, and that money received from people who subscribe thru the issuing house would be sent to the company (GL insurance), who would most likely return it to the applicants after a while. Sho! Na wa O! Is this how things are done? Can anyone confirm if this makes any sense at all in the Nigerian context? Kai, I think I've been out of the country too long . . . |
