Growth in PAT low since Q-1. I hope Q-4 comes out much better.
Q-1 - N226m Q-2 - N313m Q-3 - N372m Just about N60m PAT in Q-3.

Even if ALL they have left is the Q3 profit that will be 100% over the 2008 figure!

Stock is selling at a forward PE of 4.32x. Not bad... such bargains are getting scarce in the market.

Well, this is my concern. As at Q-3, 2008, they had made N370m PAT but only ended up with N150m PAT by FY. So, it is anyone's guess what they will declare FY 2009.

NEM, Lawunion and Goldlink are examples of stocks with better PE ratio in insurance at the moment but I will have the same concerns here. The insurance companies have not been consistent in the last 2 years when it comes to results.

That said, some insurance companies are growing market share. Some like AIICO did not invest in the capital market as they would have loved to. By and large, I see UPSIDE in this sector. |

financial sector results tend to follow a pattern, by the time 2 to 3 audited results are released a pattern can be established. I know this sounds too cautious but personally My portfolio would have been beautiful last year if not for an almost 50% loss in crusader, now this year is starting on a good note for me, caution is King in my world.
