This is expected of an insurance company that is big on life insurance as aiico is. My concern for the firm is the recent dollar loan from IFC. It exposes them to currency exchange risks without any way of hedging because of the business that they do.

They still have a balance on the Retained Earnings Account out of which the dividends will be paid. The big loss on the valuation of of 'Available for Sale' security was charged directly to a reserve meant for that purpose which resulted in the reduced owners equity. I have to say that I am conflicted on this company as an investment vehicle. There is the currency devaluation hanging on the company's neck on the recent $20 million IFC convertible loan. You do have a share dilution in the current financials which suggested that some of those loans have been converted to shares but it was just not clear on the statement or I could not make it out because I was reading in a hurry. I wonder why they needed the money in the first case.

That makes NSE a casino where directors just rip off shareholders with various schemes.
