Well, you have invested already so i think the question is not whether you have done the right thing.
It is "How can you maximise your position?"
First thing is that you'll need to be patient, don't expect it to jump hysterically in 2 months. For a mutual fund, you need to think at least a year.
Secondly, monitor the price of the fund, when you have any extra money and the price looks decent, top up your fund. By this time next year or when market activity is peaking and prices are soaring, you should be able to reap a decent profit?
Finally whether its the right choice depends on how much do you want to make, realistically. How much is acceptable to you as a good return?

stay blessed

Default When to sell Mutual Benefits

In 2020, or in the year 2025. I can assure you you would have made 1000% profit above inflation. Albert Einstein said the greatest invention of man is compund interest. Hold Mutual Benefits now and sell in 13 years' time.

Sorry o for the way it came out. I was a bit surprised at the question. I was only trying to drive a point home. Long term pays and we are not soothsayers here.

Hi,
Actually, mutual funds are not as fast yielding investment as stocks when you know the stock to pick.
However, there are basic things you need to know about mutual funds.
1 The past returns on investment
2 Averaging cost investment
3 long term investment

The mutual funds is actually meant for long term investors and not for speculators. Also, the past returns of the fund must be studied for atleast 5yrs to determine the investment skill of the managers. There is no thing like when to invest as it is meant for longterm. you can always average your investment by investing regularly at intervals.
As I said earlier, I invested in the IBTC Ethical fund at N1.29, I have also received divident equal to 5% of my investment apart from my capital appreciation as the fund is doing N1.96 today.
I have faith in the IBTc fund and recomment you try them as you will not regret it even people who invested in other mutual fund can attedt to this fact.

Hi Guys,
i happen to have investment in both ARM Discovery fund and IBTC Ethical Fund.
They are both good investments (they both focus on the same investments which is majorly stocks). I don't think it wilkl be right to say that one is better than the other because their investment strategies are different. But all the same Discovery fund is a very good mutual fund. It is been run by a very competent team. You can see what they did with RT Briscoe and they also have interest in Fara park estate in Lekki.
In summary, it very good and profitable and they have this arrangement whereby you can have a certain namount deducted from your account every month which is invested in the fund. I think this is very cool. it removes the hassles of having to fill forms etc.
i bought into the fund @ =N= 158 in August 2006 and now it's going for =N= 293 if you want to sell.
In summary, as long as the stock market is doing well, the mutual funds like Discovery and IBTC will also do well since they both invest 75% of their portfolio in stocks

Default Discovery Fund - Poor Customer Service

Has anyone had to deal with the Discovery Fund Customer Service? How has the response been?

I have deposited N100,000 to open an account and for a week no acknowledgement or follow-up to my emails. This is a disappointing start and is enough for me to freeze any further investment with them. I have heard about better response from IBTC.

I am not home so cannot go there to sort it out and shouldn't have to do so with ARM. Good service is very important to me.

send a mail to "Kayode Odetola [Kayode.Odetola@arm.com.ng]". he's the customer service guy over there. He will attend to you promptly.
I also noticed that they have not been sending the acknowledgements anymore but if you have been allocated an investor number, you will see that you have been credited by the required number of units
hope this helps
