@Meki
Do you have an investment number i.e IVXXXXXXX. if you do and you have been registered online. Then you don't need the customer care guy. just log online and check your account online.
if you have not done the above, contact Hamed Tunde Shonekan on 08028939111. He's the guy that has been assigned to my account
let me know if this works

@Apache

Thanks so much for your help and concern. I sent an email to management after I posted here and got a call the following day and an email with the account details as well.

Kayode then followed up with an email a week later. He had been off sick so nobody was getting or responding to the emails sent to the customer service email. Not the type of service I would expect from a big fund manager.

I have frozen further investments to this fund for now.

Default Investor's profile

Its not fair comparing the IBTC EQUITY FUND with the ARM DISCOVERYFUND. Taking a broader look at Mutual funds in general, we have a conservative mutual fund for low risk profile investors, a situation where 80%-100% of you fund is put in money market instruments like Bonds, T.bills/ Certificates etc. Its low risk low returns. We have a balanced mutual fund whose asset allocation is centered around stocks, real estate and Money market instruments, which is what the discoveryfund is.
Lastly is the Aggressive mutual fund where 80%-100% goes into only stocks, which is what IBTC equity fund is and the ARM aggressive growth fund also is.
Over the years there has been this comparison of discoveryfund to the Ibtc E. fund, and i will like to use this medium to reach out to as many as possible on the three mutual fund types available, so their analysis could be more accurate. Aside that, it has been a very keen competition btw the DF and the IBTC E fund. But kindly do your comparison btw the IBTC E fund and the ARM AGF which returned 61% last financial year and has done over 69% YTD.
Thanks

Default Explanation of different Fund types

Monna,

Different types of funds with associated different investment criteria and risk levels are coming up. If possible, can you, for the benefit of the house, present "close to equivalent" types of funds for comparison purposes?

You can also explain difeerences between different types of funds like Mutual, Hedge, open or closed ended types etc.

With this, peolple will know which type of fund to invest in based on their religious beliefs (some do not invest in tobacco/alcohol companies), risk levels (% in stocks, bonds, loans, etc), type of investment (mortgate/real estate), etc.

Thanks

MUTUAL FUND PERFORMANCE (% growth for 2007)

ARM Aggressive Growth Fund - 86.03% (1)

IBTC Nigerian Equity Fund - 55.40% (5)

ARM Discovery Fund - 56.30% (4)

Fidelity NIG Fund - 48.18% (6)

Coral Growth Fund - 39.32% (7)

ARM Ethical Fund - 82.11% (2)

IBTC Ethical Fund - 67.44% (3)

Coral Ethical Fund - 35.47% (8)

Coral Income Fund - 18.53% (9)

NSE All-Share-Index - 74.73%[/i][/b]

I don't know how accurate this is bcos i thought IBTC equity fund did over 100% in 2007, but if these figures are correct, then ARM surely leads the pack followed with IBTC; and surely, both of them are the best fund managers in the country

Default More words from ARM

2007 was a good year for the Stock Market as the NSE All-Share-Index returned 74.73%. In the same vein, the ARM Mutual Funds outperformed in the various categories to emerge as the best performing mutual funds in 2007. Our outlook for the stock market in 2008 remains positive, albeit we do not expect performance to be as strong as 2007’s.With our professional approach and expertise in Investment Management, we aim to build on our current performance to ensure that your investment objectives are achieved - ARM

Well, these figures just prove a fact that has been stated over and over again but one which most investors find difficult to believe: Over time, the market does better than about 80% of market participants (if I got the figures right)!
Despite the awe we feel for them, these 80% includes the fund managers and the like who then turn around and charge us for their under-performance! Meanwhile, if we had just invested in a few stocks on our own, without trying to trade so as to beat the market, we'll probably do better.
But the lesson is this: Mr Market is actually smarter than most of us will ever be, and while one might make gains trading/speculating (as opposed to investing) in the short-term, you do so at your own detriment.
That being said, I think I should be careful of my comments about fund managers as I'm one myself!

Apache, per d fund performances in ur earlia post not the ffg:

The rtns of IBTC funds (Equity / Ethical) outperformed all except ARM aggressive growth fund n ARM ethical fund. I YTD rtn of the ibtc funds were easy to compute bcos they r quoted however that of the two top performin funds couldn't bcos the funds r not listed hence we cannot corroborate the performance details.
Hence the report must have being prepared by ARM albeit for some for of marketing...

True, but the history of the prices of these funds can be found on their websites, so it will be very clear to see. Of course they will want to blow their trumphets which personally for me is okay as long as it is true.

I think Discovery fund was also higher than IBTC equity for 2007
