Hi SMN members
I have been studying the offer prospectus for the IBTC Guaranteed fund and wish to seek your opinion on some issues 1 For those of you that invested in the UBA fund, how's the returns so far? 2 Do you think it is wise to invest in guaranteed funds in Nigeria given the returns received from the NSE in share and other eqity mutual funds? 3 Is it possible that the FGN bons, TB and CP will be the main areas on safe investments in the nearest future given the new CBN policy on the Naira. Fot the IBTC, 75% of the investment will be in preferrencially select bonds, TB's and CPs while 25% will be expertlt invested in the stocks of blue chips company that will give optimum returns on investment. I have been enjoying good returns on the IBTC ethical fund and want to seek if it is the in thing for investments in bonds in Nigeri |

Go to the website Welcome to IBTC Chartered Bank plc and u will get all the information u need. do jolly well and register online and u will see your daily valuation. yes the prices now are low compared to the IPO for the Guranteed fund...look at the name it is Guranteed fund so the risk is very low so u dont expect high returns ..the will trade in Government bills (treasury) and bonds (secured instruments) and may be Fixed deposits to banks (look at the prospectus again). i anticipate 15-25% returns per year. They might not trade in Equities.

Please, has anyone sent fund or opened an account for the IBTC mutual fund from abroad? I would like to know IBTC timeline for responding to customers after one has sent money/account opening form to them.
My previous efforts to communicate with IBTC have been met with futiltiy (in terms of response). Thanks

They should respond within 5 days of your money reaching them. But sometimes you need to resend the your mail and follow up with phone calls.

I invested in IBTC's Nigeria fund; boy was it frustrating to get someone to respond to my email and phone calls after making the transfer. Even while I was in Lagos. I ended up not sending additional transfer after the initial deposit. I refuse for now to do any more business with IBTC.

Now, that is interesting...I have sent money since about 2 weeks now to open the ethical fund account and I am still waiting. I have e-mailed and phoned. I sent the application and a copy of the wire transfers etc. In one reply that I eventually got, IBTC said they have not been advised of the transfer. I have confirmation of the completion of the fund transfer the same day I sent it. With the transfer documents that I sent to them, is it still difficult to check their account for the cashflow?? I don't even know what to do next. I asked my bank to trace the money, but even I am not sure how much help that will do. I think this might be the last time I am going to do anything with IBTC too. For prospective IBTC customers..beware especially if abroad. I hope someone is praying for me here so that my money will not go down the drain oh! If anyone has any info. that might help me..please feel free.

If u have a friend in Lagos, u might consider sending them the cash and they will issue a cheque in favour of IBTC. They can then drop the cheque and signed form at any IBTC branch (preferably head office). Alternatively, u can open a current account when next u are in Nigeria. U can then transfer your foreign currency to the account. Thereafter issue a cheque in favour of IBTC/ARM etc and mail it to them. This way you can track the flow of funds. |
