From your response if i'm not mistaken, you seem to have made up your mind on buying into a mutual fund. You dilemma is if FBN heritage fund is a better buy than what is currently available like IBTC, ARM etc. I don't think that should be too hard to figure.
looking at their prospectus, they are forecasting an ROI of 14.25% for 2009, 27% etc. compare this to an average growth of over 45% for discovery fund or IBTC ethical fund and you will see a clearer picture.
Personally, when going for mutual funds i always make sure that the fund managers have a good track record in fund management esp in managing mutual funds. So i will always go for IBTC or ARM any day. but for FBN, though they have the backing of First bank, i don't know much abt them when it comes to managing mutual funds.
Like the old saying, the devil you know is better than the angel you don't. I will advise you go for any of the mutual funds floated by IBTC or ARM.
hope this helps

@Apache, thanks for the info. I have already dropped my pants for IBTC but would still like to have one more to this mutual fund investments. FBN just look to sweet and I have read here that IBTC yield a better ROI than ARM so opt-in for IBTC.

I do now have to decide in the next few days which one of FBN or ARM would take the remaining 50,000...would you take ARM over FBN, taking into consideration that ARM and IBTC are in their own league and I do have one of them?

Well, this makes it easier since IBTC is out of the picture. The problem is that while ARM has a history, FBN doesn't so it will be hard to compare btw the 2. but like i earlier said, "the devil that i know..."
in this year alone ARM aggressive fund has grown by 61% which for me is very impressive while ARM discovery has grown over 50% this year alone. if you compare this to what FBN is proposing which is about 14%, you will see which is better. Moreover, FBN has less resources devoted to stocks as compared to ARM's aggressive fund so i think ARM's aggressive fund offers better prospects than FBN. I don't know if anyone in the forum has a different opinion but i am sharing to you how i made my choices when choosing mutual funds.
i have over =N=1m spread btw IBTC, ARM discovery fund and i have just bought some units of ARM aggressive fund.
you should focus more on funds that can give you better ROIs than looking for those in different leagues because basically, they are all the same. the difference is their allocation spread of resources and the expertise of the fund manager

I would sincerely say thanks for the advise...I began o shift to ARM after reading from other forums too (people dont know much about the FBN and still doubt it). Well I still have until Dec 28 to decide finally on FBN after reading from various sources. I think I will drop the rest of my pants now for ARM and let's see how it all goes.

Thanks again for your info
