Dear Forumites. I hope you find this useful. There is no room for error in this market any longer. gone are the days of march when you buy and must make profits. We have read from most our very versatile and experienced investors in this forum that we must not necessarily buy . Beware of summer buyings if i may reitarate . Very soon we will begin to see a lot of candles conjuring harami , morning star and Udoji sorry Doji. Beware the hammer is at hand and the graveyard is ready to claim your money if you are not careful.
The opportunities are going to come but will you be ready? the ball is in your court

It's very simple actually. WE just pray for all of Waan5 stocks to go up and for all moneymoney stocks to go down. Anyone that they jointly hold should remain stable

I think it is quite logical to say that we shd not buy in the summer but this summer may not have a profound effect on the overall market direction.

The total market capitalisation is seriously down and the decision of a single foreign institutional investor to enter or to exit the market will have a great effect on the market index.

The mind of the average investor is presently "unstable" therefore...The greatest factor that will determine the direction of the market is the profit declared by the banks. The GTbank result moved the market north, the Access bank result moved the market south. What will happen to the market when the 1st bank result is out?

It is advisable that investors shd not put all their money in the stock market considering the present level of uncertainty.

Happy investing.

That is why a smart Mr A can dig a well or have an irrigation project should therebeno rain, and Mr B can have a shelter for his leaves..

Diversify, spread risks cos God could send the rain or sun and sometimes both in a day.

i'm of the school of thought that i should put all my eggs in one basket and watch that basket like a hawk. Its against my religion to have more than 5 stocks in my portfolio at once, i'm currently having 3. As for things going wrong they do, i bought ftn at 2.17 which was about 50% of my portfolio made a loss of 40% pulled out and moved to skye recovered about 20% there on the other hand i made close to 80% on ashaka which was over 50% of portfolio i've pulled out and moved to crusader which i am now watching, i know it seems high risk but to be honest i've learned not to love or stay loyal to any stock and this strategy works for me. I do make losses on some stocks but overall i hardly loose cause as i said i watch my stocks like a hawk.

my brother you no need agbero broker all you need na make you no dey greedy. As for the religion part: there are three stages of ideas - idea, conviction and belief. I equate belief with religion because you have an idea you convince yourself its true by thinking it thru and finally you test it a couple of times to know it works, if it does you then start to believe in it and it becomes your religion (of course i could be talking crap)

A few years had summer gains (2000 and 2006) with following Jul and Aug month gains restectively (6.7/7.1% and 6.6/18.7%). They tended to follow years in which the end year gains where bad. Since 2008 was the worst year on the exchange, the greatest factor that will determine the direction of the market this summer is the profit declared by companies. There are still lots of companies with good valuations that investors really should not be rushing to sell. Price to book about 1 and PE less than 10. Hope more results like CCNN's, GTB etc will come up to boost investor morale, then we will have a positive summer.

Even Access bank's result was not that bad. Access was about 20 naira last year when they declared about 65k dividend. 10% dividend yield is very rear which is what most banks would declare, including our beloved Oceanic. Could that be tomorrow?
