Is GSK on technical suspension? With the bid/offer disparity one expects the price to go up. That should force the foreign investors trying to buyout other holders to have to pay more.

Pls Im new to this section of SMN and i must admit I dont understand the excel attachment of buy and sell orders.

Would be most grateful if you explain to me how to read it.

Simplistically, imagine you're in a local market and there's a crowd of people on one side queueing up to buy a particular good. They are all quoting varying prices for the item but wanting to purchase different quantities at their respective prices.

Then imagine there's a queue of people on the other side with different quantities of the same item but all looking to sell at their own respective prices.

Where you can get two sets of buyers and sellers to agree on price /quantity of the items a deal is struck. Hence a cursory glance of the overall picture gives an onlooker an idea of how popular the respective item might be depending on a number of factors:

- How big the crowd of people wanting to buy the item versus the number of people wanting to sell

- The volume of the particular item that the buyers and sellers want to either purchase or sell

- The spread of prices between those wanting to buy and those wanting to sell.

- The speed at which the number of buyers/sellers increase/diminish(?)

If you are looking to buy into or offload the item, these conditions *might* inform your participating in the crowds on either side.

if you look at it, you'll see there are two sections buy side( bid) and sell side( offer or ask). There is a list of different volume and price each individual want to sell or buy. If the bid volume is more than the offer depending on the extent of the difference, its likely that the price will rise and the opposite if the offer is more. You can also use the bid and offer price to determine what price to buy. Purpose a stock gained maximally yesterday and close at 8.5 at 10% and the lowest offer price at closure was 8.6 with bid volume still higher than offer volume by wide marging if you place a price limit lower than 8.6 you are not likely to get your trade. Suffice it to say that one can not conclude on how many actual transactions, quantity of shares and prices at which transactions were made, from those buy and sell orders???

Exactly! Its just "demand". The market analogy is to give you the onlooker an idea of how good/bad a particular market for that item might be by the size of the crowds on both sides, the quantities and the varying prices.

What the chart does is to give you the top n stocks by such demand to show you which are the ones that have the most activity in the market at any given time.
