I need a quick info. on GDR over-subscription generally. This is partially related to Diamond's bank GDR, where trading is not suspended.
Generally, is over-subscription allowed and to what level? (Is it like a maximum of 25% over-subscription as in NSE now?) Particularly for the Diamond bank GDR, will over-subscription be allowed and to what level? Thanks. |

Guys,
have you read the news that Lafarge has bought over Orascom cement? i wonder what this will entail for Flour mills and Unicem considering that Orascom owns a major stake in Unicem. remeber that lafarge owns Ashaka cement and Wapco |

On the recent results declared by linkage assurance, and the prosprcts for their performance next year, I think it will be nice to take position in this company now.
I see the stock hitting N 6 by second qtr. next year. plus they have still not released their full yr results for 2007.

I think the result of Linkage was below expectation. It remains one of the more expensive insurance Cos. Forward PE over 34. I think UNIC is cheaper by far.

I've been monitoring this forum for a while from the US and I'm impressed. I finally decided to go ahead and join, and I find the post I'm replying to is about a suspension of activity! I hope this forum is in for the long haul.
I had hoped for some direction from members regarding legitimate brokers and advisors, since I had wanted to pursue possible relationships. I am a US citizen, and frankly, if my peers knew the direction I'm taking here, they'd shun me and probably want to have me committed to an asylum. The thing is, I respect what you're trying to do. Regardless of the fact that an undesirable element has hijacked a portion of your marketplace, in turn casting a specter of distrust on all financial dealings with Nigeria in "traditional" US business circles, I believe you deserve recognition and inclusion. Bad news is always deemed more newsworthy than good news. |

Dear Newseeker, Welcome to the forum, I am happy that you have been impressed by the forum. I do not want to jump the gun, however is it safe to infer that the "possible relationship" you want to pursue is about trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange or investing in Nigerian comanies. Let me first of all asure you that I am sure you are not the only US citizen to trade on the NSE or to join this forum for that matter. I don't know who your peers are, but it seems they know something that the rest of us here don't know or something that the likes of HSBC, AIG, Hellios etc who have invested or formed such relationships as you seek do not know. As this is an information sharing forum, can I ask that you share such with us Or could I have judged the direction you are taking that could have your peers commit you to an asylum wrong by my above assumption? |

Crtide, at this rate u might just be scaring off our dear newseeker. But sure i agree wt u, d biggest private equity and investment mgmt firms r turnin 2 emerging markets and Nigeria happens to offer one of the best opportunities in that regard, plus the NSE is becomin more robust by the day wt daily trades beatin the N10b mark and capitalisation inchin closer to N10trillion.

In case you have not noticed, after dropping to a year low of around N15 by end of November, the stock has now gained over 50% in December alone at today's price of N22.05. I don't think it it fundamentally strong except some mega growth is in the offing. The projected PE is currently over 48. Compare that to Dangote or Flour Mills that hover around 15.

Gents, What is happening to Fidelity? For over two Months they have been on suspension. Who can tell me why they are still on technical suspention and when will they likely come back to the market? What is the highest price we should be expecting them to get to?
