I don't think so. Many folks just feel they have to position before the year runs out as if the bull run must start first week January!!!

Guys,
I took a look at the NSE's price list after 10 days off and could see that the 'JEWEL' in Intercontinental and Crusader stocks are begining to manifest.
I love to say we said it here. I took a look at Easimoni's spreadsheet on insurance stocks again. Folks who took position 3 - 4 months ago would be smiling into 2008.
Thanks guys for making SMN what it is. To easimoni, Oseitutu, Geeman, DaInvestor, pumping, oga moderator, & to us all, I say welldone.
I wish us all a beautiful 2008.

yes ooooooooooo
people simply want to take position before the new year.
according to proshare, the nse move up by 102 basis point!!!!!!!!
what i really think is that sometime early next year, there will be profit taking before another bullish run resume, which might last a long time.
what do u think?????????????????

Guys, you must understand that the market is defing many forecast. I think the bull has started. The profit taking may not be so soon as anticipated because many of the stocks, particularly those with impresive 9 month result still look undervalued. People may not want to make mistakes of jumping out fast.

I recommend a buy for some insurance stocks in particular-Lasaco, Linkage, NEM, Crusader, Unic, Nigerins... These stocks will make some people happy this coming year.

I wish you all a prosperous 2008!!!

when recommeding stocks, we usualy advocate that you give some kind of background information on the stock you are recomending, viz their year end, previous performance, EPS and number of shares outstanding ETC
The truth about profit taking is not about undervalued price, but price at which majority entered, take NEM for instance, sometime in early november was selling for about N1.6, now is about N3.24, what do u think? lot of people will sell to take position in another coy, so that is the thing about profit taking, even if NEM is still undervalued right now at N3.24, PROFIT TAKING WILL STILL occur.
HAPPY NEW YEAR IN ADV

Default Market Reactions

I think what caused this bullish run was the bearish trend before and during the holiday periods and usually this bearish period is the time for discerning investors to take positions and thus this has caused the bullish trend.

When others are withdrawing their funds for Ileya Rams, Chicken, Turkeys, Hampers, goats and Cows, discerning investors are taking those positions and come 2008 Fiscal Year, many, many would smile to their various banks with huge profits.

I keenly look out for this superb performing shares during their bearish periods to take position, it does not reflect the company's performances to some extend.

Almost all of the insurance coys end their financial year in Dec. so we should start seeing some more rally on them about the end of 1st qtr 2008, for those that will declare good div. and better still bonus issues.

Any suggestions on who might be doing a bonus issue?

Please, you guys, could you please enlighten me on how you decide a particular stock is undervalued? Looking at the papers, all I see are a bunch of stocks trading at crazy PEs! Looks like Tulipomania or the DotCom era all over again (see attached pdf). Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating, but not more than 5 of the insurance stocks seem to me to be trading at reasonable prices so please let me know how you arrived at your conclusions.
