Can you point us to the stocks that we should be discussing? 5 to 10 should do. Thanks in advance. You can also help by stating why you think those stocks are worthy of any discussion.

Default UTUOCHA: A small story before the 2nd announcement!

In the land of plenty
Ruled by thieves
A land so blessed in riches
Yet, its inhabitants agonize in poverty

Some young men of (dis)honor
Trained in the art of lying
And backed by a brutal godfather
Who acts as the lord of the wild west

These young men ganged up and decided
That it was their turn to join in the thievery
In despicable manners, they forced their ways
Into boards of companies flowing in oil

Being smart in the arts of deception
Where more disclosure equals more confusion
They set up an ordinary company of nothing
Based on the math principle that zero plus zero equals zero

These young men of (dis)honor
Emboldened by the ignorance and silence of the people
Renamed their new acquisition as ZERO with capital letters
And set out to loot it

First, they formed another company called zero in small letters
And other companies with names so strange to understand
They paid fees to the small letters zero company
And, had the strange companies sell stakes to the big ZERO company

In this way, they milked and milked big ZERO
As big ZERO shrunk, they grew fat
As big ZERO bled, they rejoiced
They bought private jets and acted rich

When other big ZERO shareholders shouted
The young men of dishonor decided to go for the kill
They paid billions as “termination fees” to the small zero company
And, decided to offer more shares to the impoverisehed shareholders

They drank wine and danced
Now, with their loot, they will fully control big ZERO company
And dance forever!
Afterall, in that land of plenty ruled by thieves, impossible is nothing!

For me, you can talk down or talk up any share. At the end of the day, no one knows what you are buying. So let everyone be fully persuaded.

That said, I support anyone buying OandO. I mean Jesus himself learnt obedience by the things which he suffered.

For those getting carried away with the noise about upstream, go and research about upstream oil companies and understand the business so that you don't get confused by power point presentations! People need to understand the risk associated with the businesses they are involved in!

Happy investing. The bulls are here hence the NEWCOMERS! The BEARS will soon drive people away lol
We should understand the purpose of SMN. It is a free and open forum where issues about our every day live is discussed in general and capital market in particular. Locking one trend send an idea that it is controlled and asking for positive idea to be discussed mean it has been hijacked. Nobody is forcing anybody not to pick any right offer after all it is ur money and nobody should also force me not to write what I want to write. While I write what I want to write U read and act on what U want to read and act. So No!No!No! To closing any trend.

I totally agree with you. I'm sure nobody is out to run down any company on SMN but I must quickly add that there was never a time i bought a stock since 2010 without discreetly weighing the opinions of the gurus and guresses on this great forum. I've profited from doing that while at other times I've burnt my fingers but with all give and take I've profited from going with their suggestions. I remember taking with a pinch of salt a subtle warning that came from sir Ommyde on UBA, backed by sir KOD when the stock was selling for 8naira or thereabout, the rest is history. SMN Rocks.

Difficult to predict this market. Popular feeling is right many times but wrong sometimes. Look at TRANSCORP some years back there were many companies rated as solid that are dead now (delisted and value wiped out) yet TRANSCORP is moving despite what the prophets saw. Soon OANDO's story could change for good. And perhaps it will become a Zero. Odo! after taking out the 'an'.

Last year, there were a couple of companies which did well in their own sector. Sometimes, we should take our eyes off these so-called big companies. Instead of big giants, we can also look at and take positions in some of the mid-sized companies as majority of stocks below are mid and small cap stocks which are doing well based on Last year's gain.

COMPANY Sector Last Year gain
Presco Agriculture 96.08%
TRANSCORP Conglomerates 87.50%
SMURFIT Construction/Real Estate 42.31%
ROADS Construction/Real Estate 15.88%
INTBREW Consumer Goods 184.21%
CADBURY Consumer Goods 154.39%
DIAMONDBNK Financial Services 145.77%
ACCESS Financial Services 79.56%
GLAXOSMITH Healthcare 96.09%
EVANSMED Healthcare 29.85%
PAINTCOM Industrial Goods 276.92%
CAP Industrial Goods 93.10%
ASHAKACEM Industrial Goods 54.61%
AIRSERVICE Services 92.63%
UPL Services 31.47%
RTBRISCOE Services 24.59%

I hope this helps.

Dangote flour has been releasing disaster as result and when some people pointed it out here, some forumits come to their defense. The price starts appreciating even when Tiger Brand news has not filtered in. Eventually Tiger brand bought it over. People don’t go to AGM and when management starts implementation of the resolutions reached at AGM by Shareholders, some Shareholders who never attended will start to cry blue murder. Shareholders have the right to challenge the actions, reactions and inactions of any company including Oando at a court of law. Old investors who bought Oando from 2006 to 2010 may not see value in the company. I that bought at sub =N=11 see a lot of value in the company. In stock market, somebody has to lose money for another person to make money. I hope to lose some money in Oando to enable some cowboys make money. Until then, let me wait and see. Let me reiterate that all companies on NSE except a few two or three has the same issue of corporate malfeasance.
Hope you no be emotional investor sha? 'Cos no matter how much anybody talks down a stock my analysis gives me a go at, I will jump in. And if anyone talks up a stock my analysis says no to, I stay away.

I think we should try to draw a line between companies and their stocks on the floor of the bourse. In the stock market, stocks are punished; not companies taken to court, when they fail to meet shareholders' expectations.

Abeg some questions my Ogas.
There is something that I don’t understand. Oando is trading at R62 here in South Africa.
How does that relate to the N14.9 price on the Nigerian Stock Exchange?
Is it exactly the same company that is trading on the two exchanges?
Why is there the significant price differential?

The price on JSE is 0.69ZAR which is 69ZAr....notice the uppercase 'R' and the lowercase 'r' in the prices...
