US set to return $458m Abacha loot

Quote:
A portion of the funds valued at $458m, he said, had now been forfeited to the United States, adding that on December 17, 2015, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia entered final judgment forfeiting certain Abacha assets valued at $458 million.

He said the forfeiture proceeding on those assets had been concluded and the forfeited assets were ripe for repatriation to Nigeria. He added that a US-Nigerian lawyer, Godson Nnaka, had filed an appeal against the judgment of forfeiture claiming to be entitled to a portion of the assets as compensation for legal services allegedly rendered to Nigeria.

The US however said the forfeited assets were not located in the United States and that only upon disposition of the appeal would it then have a final judgment upon which it could seek the retrieval of the forfeited assets which were frozen in multiple foreign jurisdictions and return same to Nigeria.

How many times have we seen this happen?

Atleast this one is enough for them to kick start d solid minerals and mines sector. Bring in officers frm regulating agencies of those forieghn countries to help package our products to their own acceptable standards for export. we hardly benefited from AGOA, bUt other smaller countries in africa did. Nigerian leaders pls wake up and be serious for ones. Recieve sense and do d right thing.

That is where you missed it - yet again.

The key word was 'deeply divided' It was not waaan that made the report. It was the UN.

Truth be told, Buhari is the most divisive president in Nigeria's history - You dont need waaan to remind you of that.

You have his 97% vs 5% policy, unabashed support for the killer fulani herdsmen, parochial appointments, etc., to thank for that

Yur interpretation is quite dodgy, yu sabi twist information and data wella . The UN didnt make a comparison of pre and post 2015, yu did.
The UN only took a snapshot in time. It didnt say when or how exactly the division began or if it had improved or worsened.
That one na your own addition.

They accused Ihejirika of committing genocide when he cleared BH out of Abuja and the NW. Their leader even said at a time that 'any attack on BH is an attack on the north'.

Inspite of all these, GEJ cleared BH from the territories they were occupying in the NE and put them in disarray, before Buhari came in and removed all military checkpoints in the NE allowing BH to regroup.

He himself is the bastard. What a prick of a man. Serves him right to try to buy people's vote. Abeg, Ondo people, E jeun soke jare, that money will come handy during the recession. Chop the money of the next clown who believes votes are there to be bought and disappoint them at the polls. Arrant nonesense.
NOTE: I am making a massive assumption here that this Trent report is true.
