GEJ's biggest problem is priority inversion. First with single-term policy, now subsidy removal. The subsidy removal issue is a distraction from Boko Haram. His government is quickly becoming a subsidy we can no longer afford.

No one is saying that the price shouldn't get to N140. But let first thing be done first! I gave someone an example. If there is so much planned mass transit(for people) which you buy a bus card for like N2,000(for example) for a month's use( no matter where you want to go to within a city) and there is electricity(even if it is 18-hr supply), I bet you that nobody will know when the govt removes subsidy. FG will announce in pages of newspaper or national TV stations but people will wonder how it affects them. Maybe there will just be a slight increase in the bus card price(N2,500) and you will see people paying for it.

FG needs to do the right things first. Just these 2 things will change everything. Now they are doing a quick fix(REACTIVE) to a problem that needs serious long term planning. Mass transit scheme needs a serious long term planning about the routes, about control of prices etc.

I guess the trucks they use are weightless and invisible abi? Or the "submarine" they intercepted recently also na invisible machine?

As long as the drug cartel know that there is zillions of dollars to be made across the border, they are going to continuously devise ways to get their products across. If the U.S like, they should post 1 million people to guard the border, the drugs will keep on coming.

As long as the price differential of petrol between naija and its neighboring countries is this large, if you like post 1million custom men at the border, tankers will still cross the border. One way or the other, they will find a way. The profit is too mind boggling for it not to happen.

#OccupyNigeria needs to change tact. Scale back the civil disobedience to neighbourhood level. Let people protest in their neighbourhoods to minimise police brutality. Encourage use of camera phones, twitter (#occupynigeria, #fuelsubsidy), BBM, facebook, whatsapp and other technological aids etc to tell the world this government is losing legitimacy. We need these images and videos, it may prove invaluable bringing charges of crimes against humanity against key members of this government. Jonathan could be having a reunion with Charles Taylor.

Bros, leadership is all about enjoying the confidence of those you lead. She no longer enjoys this confidence. People are being hurt and a few killed by police because of her actions. She has no moral authority to lead and like Papandreou she needs to go. She's failed to convince us so let another try to do the same. She's said this country is bigger than any one person, she needs to go.

Bros, Nigeria and World Bank are 2 different things. Her first tenure was good. Her reincarnation seems to be a horror movie (except it's all real). Frankly, if she's got any credibility left, she will be resigning immediately. She won't win this battle or war. Even if she did (extremely unlikely), her moral authority will be greatly diminished. I have thanked you the SMN way. I am not saying NOI is a saint (She could be and perhaps not). But she has energies and passion that can help reduce the endemic levels of poverty in this Country. It is not a piece of cake to rise to the professional level she did. If Nigerians talk her trash it really speak volumes about us. She is working in her area of expertise. I wish she should think about Nigeria taking a $8 billion loan now to deploy into the schemes discribed and reverse this subsidy for now with a view of bringing it back next year. (Or meet part way at N90 or N100 per litre) Let her and GEJ then build trust by delivering on these promises with the loans. Nigerians can buy into the USD bonds if they like.

Nigeria is not alone....

This isn't about tough economic times, this is about incompetence. NOI cannot convince Nigeria just like Papandreou couldn't convince the Greeks. One had integrity and resigned, the other would say or do anything to be in government.
