On my own I advocate that we should control corruption first then reduce excessive wastages from national assemble and executive if enough is not saved by then reduce civil service by 50% anything outside that amount to white washing the problem and the merry go round continues.

u definetly got ur figures wrong. For clarity, sls did not say d national assembly spent 25% of d total recurrent expenditure,he was actuall talkin about overhead & i want 2 assume u understand there is a difference btw recurrent and overhead expenditure.

this time am with you. Though they may be minority they know how to recruit. They'll tell the unemployed and those who survive on their own small work how difficult it would to get into the civil service if FG carry out the sack.

Well though am not an accounting or management scholar does not mean I should not know basic and elementary business terms. Overhead cost should mean the total cost of running business minus the cost of acquisition of fix capital. Overhead cost includes salary, allowances, general maintenance, cost of services and miscellaneous. In budget preparation do you include all this mentioned under acquisition of fixed capitals (capital expenditure)? Remember it either recurrent or fixed no middle man.

He was highlighting the fact that only 30% of the budget was capital expenditure and that we needed to improve on this if we wanted to grow our economy. He went on to describe how wasteful we are with 770+ LGAs, 36 states, 400+ NASS, a bloated civil service (of course forgetting to include damage done by omni-incompetent ministers like DAM) etc. I actually agree with him. As you would expect, the 'hawks' have focused only on the bloated civil service (ultimately led by ministers). Why do we need so many LGAs (and the associated administrative costs)? The argument is equally valid with the states and NASS. Why do we need ministers from every state? More importantly, why do we have "omni-incompetents" like DAM running ministries and making policies?
To move forward, we'll have to make painful reforms, unfortunately, this govt has failed to demonstrate sufficient credibility and trust hence the people will continue to oppose reforms. At least, not when this govt is busying re-forming corruption and incompetence. Where is the white paper committee report for example?

Fewer people need passport. But more need voters card. There is more political impact with 10 year voters card in many ways good and bad.

I agree with you. It's actually a good idea. I was only drawing attention to the fact that passports are only valid for 5 years (before renewal). Why it isn't longer remains a mystery.

Interesting choice of words. How is she an Oil and Gas professional? Please tell us? In any case, what matters is she has badly handled her ministry. She is a national liability and she should go. That's accountability. This is a woman who has been indicted since 2009.

Oga Eniyanman I love you analysis. God will always bless you for that angle of thought. Pls I would like to point out that though the presidential system of government is expensive I think it is the better system of Government. I believe people that thought out the many LGA was to have even development. Both of us know that this is not what is applicable. The main reason being corruption. If you see the no of civil servants on the ministry record and compare it with what is obtainable when you go for verification you will understand the magnitude of corruption in this country. Why should a minister have up to 10 special advices with the advices having their own advices and personnel leading to wastages. I am one of the few persons that believe that if we can control corruption and wastages we will be saving more than enough. The only problem we have is that government has decided not to fight it b/cos they are involved and corruption will fight back. Nigeria is not the only country that practices the presidential system yet the recurrent expenditure of those countries are not like ours. I believe we should better look inward for our problem and solve it or if not any other system of governance will still come down under the same problem.
