In my view, the problem with our democracy is the total absence of ideology. More like the only ideology is the ideology of personal enrichment. Since the days of SDP and NRC (not advocating 2-party politics), it's been impossible to place any of our political parties as either left or right of centre. More like leprous fingers! They have simply become a mishmash of political jobbers, opportunists, also-rans and hired hands. Politicians interested only in one thing; themselves. Men and women of no ideology and principles. This is further compounded by the sad realisation we operate a "press statement" opposition. Weak and largely ineffective. Known more for their series of press statements by, with due respects, relatively 'unknowns'. A feudal opposition! Why they don't get their big hitters (and likely presidential candidates) to constantly tour Radio stations and TV newsrooms to communicate alternative policy ideas in addition to criticising govt actions is beyond belief. The opposition needs to become professional! Our democracy needs a strong opposition.

Going forward, friends of democracy would have to work together to provide ideas (and encourage others to do same) on how the external opposition (ACN, CPC etc) and the internal opposition within the ruling party can be strengthened. How, for example, can they apply lessons from successful corporate mergers, especially where different business cultures are involved. How can they run a well oiled party secretariat and campaign. How to brand, communicate and oppose effectively. How to form coherent policy. How to look like a govt in waiting etc.

So while I agree that work needs to be done on the grassroots, we shouldn't ignore the political class itself. This, I commit to in 2013.
Now you are talking. I hope this 'end of year' resolution will be carried over to 'new year' resolution.

On a Monopoly board, there are 4 railway lines one each edge of the board. Which railway line will they use in Lagos city?

You have don't nothing to fault the figures or the views expressed therein. Why can't it be for public consumption. Have they removed subsidy on free speech?

The monopoly thing na public relations stunt naw; no wonder Banana island was featured and authentic areas like AJ city were left out. But even at that, oyibo still injected Makoko for the game self. Maybe lagos should as for their money back
