I no see how obedience to constituted authorities infringe on their fundamental human rights O? The school says attendance at Chapel is a core uni function, you say they must change it in the middle of your stay for you? Only Senate get that power O.
My brother, most universities(world-wide) graduates you after satisfying its basic requirements in CHARACTER and LEARNING. Even if you make a first-class and the university authorities say you have not satisfied the basic requirement of character, you go no where. We know of hot brains that have been expelled/rusticated from federal schools on account of gross misconduct(believe me, disobedience to constituted authority na him be the gross misconduct O). The fact that most government universities have not been enforcing the character aspect does not mean it is not there.
The punishment may seem harsh to you watching from outside, but they(the students and their parents) signed up to it as being in their best interest. These are not just students, but MEMBERS OF THE UNIVERSITY upon matriculation.
I do not think you voluntarily choose to go to a private university and now demand the rules governing public universities be applied to you. You cannot eat your cake and have it. These students had better found their way to universities where attendance at university functions does not constitute a breach of the character requirement of the university.
