Oga oracle and oga hispy, if anybody knows the agreement before taking the child to convenant then i believe what the school did is proper....why u go smoke benson or ganja when initially u enrolled into the school they gave you their by-laws against such and you willingly agreed that you can abide by their rules...No one forced anybody to enroll their children there....if you dont like the rules then find an alternative...Atleast it is not the only university in Nigeria...Although expulsion is alittle bit harsh but that is their rule..

The above was the initial comment I made when oga Salida posted the link. Whoever applies to the school only has himself to blame for not abiding with the laws of the school.

It is not as simple and straight forward as that, not being a lawyer though, but I must say certain clauses in contracts could be considered "obnoxious" and are unenforceable in a dispute.

We must remember Covenant is first a University, and some rights are fundamental.

I no see how obedience to constituted authorities infringe on their fundamental human rights O? The school says attendance at Chapel is a core uni function, you say they must change it in the middle of your stay for you? Only Senate get that power O.

My brother, most universities(world-wide) graduates you after satisfying its basic requirements in CHARACTER and LEARNING. Even if you make a first-class and the university authorities say you have not satisfied the basic requirement of character, you go no where. We know of hot brains that have been expelled/rusticated from federal schools on account of gross misconduct(believe me, disobedience to constituted authority na him be the gross misconduct O). The fact that most government universities have not been enforcing the character aspect does not mean it is not there.

The punishment may seem harsh to you watching from outside, but they(the students and their parents) signed up to it as being in their best interest. These are not just students, but MEMBERS OF THE UNIVERSITY upon matriculation.

I do not think you voluntarily choose to go to a private university and now demand the rules governing public universities be applied to you. You cannot eat your cake and have it. These students had better found their way to universities where attendance at university functions does not constitute a breach of the character requirement of the university.

I was one of die hard pro subsidy but having accesses to some reliable first hand information over the past three months, I hereby declare my support for total removal of subsidy. Though it will hurt at the beginning but it will eventually get better. This position I took does not excuse the ineptitude of this administration in handling corruption. Nevertheless a brave and decisive President and Commander in-Chief can still have subsidy and deal with corruption associated with it but unfortunately we have a President but as for Commander in-Chief, I am not sure. The best this administration can do is to damn the consequences and do that which they can.

The good thing is once it's deregulated, we do not need the govt to manage it anymore
