Since i am not a laywer, I have never looked at this way. But this makes some sense. Legally speaking, GEJ cannot contest the 2015 election because to allow him stay in office till 2019 means he would have spent 9 years in office which is exactly what the consitution seeks to limit to 8 years. The Law is really an Ass.

It will be interested to see how this is resolved. The earlier the better.

GEJ has only been elected by the electorate once, so I would be surprised if he cannot stand for election again. Needless to say, even if he can only be President for "8 years", who says he can't contest and resign after 2 years (till he has accrued his 8 years in office)? Is there anything in the constitution that prevents him from doing that?

Another good perspective and a possible point for the GEJ team. GEJ can contest in 2015 and if he wins, will stay in office to May 2018 so as not to exceed the 8 year limit.

In cases like this, the Judges are guided more by the spirit than the letter of the law.

Constitutionally, GEJ is not barred from contesting. If he wins, he can serve a full term. However, GEJ has to be a "man of honour". No one forced him to suggest he would only "run for a single term". In any case, I want him to run because, based on his current performance, he will lose. Nigerians would love to see the smug on his face when he loses. Just ask Alao-Akala et al. But seriously, we need a sitting President to lose an election. That's a sign of coming of age for any democracy. Zambia did it with Kaunda, so why not us?

Ok, let's throw GEJ a lifeline. If we beat Zambia on Friday, GEJ can 'run' in 2015. Any other result, means he will lose. . Keshi, your president needs you!

Have we not had enough of this government and their empty promises, setting up panels, committees of which has no end.

What kind of analysis led him and his advisors to the 3.5m jobs figure for the agric sector? Does the 2013 budget fund these goals? Will the program be implemented? Do they assume that they are dealing with illiterates? Have they successful created 1,000 jobs since they resumed office, or am I getting something wrong here?

waste of time and money by people that should be doing things a lot more beneficial to the society. Heard that have bannned the importation of energy drinks for health reasons....why is nobody banning the use of pothole roads for health reasons or banning corruption..
