Lagos knows how to create a lot of legal bottlenecks for investors who they do not want. I am of the opinion that a political solution will be sought.

Those guys are equally paying interest on the loan which they used in making this purchase from Federal government. Onikoyi family is also claiming ownership of the land, because the British government did not pay for the land where the Secretariat was built. |

These are people's opinion from another forum
We have not heard the last of this sort of thing.Emeka offor's firm has to carry along Eastern electric consortium,so also Abdulsalami's firm will have some form of arrangement with LASG(forget about OANDO power,I'm personally pleased that Tinubu will have no direct benefit from the power privatisation programme he had written off several times) That was racketeering and not bidding. Emeka Offor is a guy who lacks credibility, how well did he his Chrome manage all the TAM contracts he collected or is it the Kastec gas pipeline fraud. Where did Abdulsalam get his money? Abacha's recovered loot. Gbolade Osibodu is simply a front man .All these guys are worse than the state governors. I'm expecting Lagos state to follow suit... Considering the huge investments in IPP already by the affected states, the states have a very strong case. That aside, the consortium of the states MUST be fully privatised or the BPE/NCP should prevail on Vigeo to strengthen their bid and enhance their capacity as well as have some form of working arrangement with the states' consortium, otherwise bumps bumps ahead Abdusalami's past has nothing to do with the bidding process. For example , his company was the only company that bidded for Yola distribution company ; what do u expect? If his company meet the prerequisite requirement and won the bid ; they should go ahead and work ! All we need is results , revitalizing the power sector and not to dwell on history ! It actually includes Ondo State. So add LP. I think the governors' grouse is that they have invested heavily in the power sector in their various states and have a more accomplished technical partner than the winner and that the bidding process itself was flawed. And so what if they had heavily invested in power generation? Does that guarantee success in distribution? If NO, then why don't they leave it for the experts? Our Governors always want tp politicise everything. The citizens of Edo, Delta and Ondo don't give a hoot who manages the DISCOs, as long as they see the bulb light when they flick the switch on. POWER DISTRIBUTION: We won’t allow firm to operate -Edo, Ekiti, Delta govs Last edited by emmanuel ewumi; 19th October 2012 at 01:44 PM. |

[quote=emmanuel ewumi;142424]It might but the friction might be less because they are all members of South South economic forum. Do not forget that Ekiti is a part of the South West economic integration and they are still trying to convince Edo state to join them because of ACN. Delta is a member of South South economic forum. There would have been less friction if it was an Edo/Delta or Rivers/Bayelsa or Cross River/Akwa Ibom combo because these states were once one.

[quote=emmanuel ewumi;142424]Without knowing the details of the consortium, there is no way the consortium will be able to manage such business

[quote=emmanuel ewumi;142451]Because I AM yet to see any government own business that is geared towards service delivery and properly run. Not sure why this will be different. We are talking about state governments that are finding it difficult to run education, health, agriculture or even sports in an efficient manner.

The company equally had a lot of real-estate investments in highbrow areas of Lagos, like Lekki, Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Lagos Island, Ikeja GRA. They practical owned more 70% of Ikeja and Ilupeju Industrial Estates and more than 50% of Apapa Industrial Estate. It was the Military rulers and their boys that squandered the investments of the once flourishing conglomerate. |
