Jona didn't lie in his claims, the reason is that he used the word 'capacity', that's what I feel Dagogo-jack should have clarified. What he(Jona) would have been referring to would be the sum of the name-plate ratings on the available units(generators) at the various gencos, which is quite different from what they actually produce. Take Egbin for instance, it's rated 1320MW (6 X 220MW) but the highest I've ever heard is 1030(I'm not very sure why, I'll try and find out). Our inability to properly control the frequency at which we generate is one of the major constraints of power generation, on the day we generated the 4517MW I heard we still had a couple of units running at high frequencies(high means above 50hz, I wasn't shown the actual values), meaning theoretically, the grid could actually have taken a bit more load(maybe someone tried to do so and it lead to the system collapse). I think the presidents speech-writers did a bad job, the language he used was confusing and as usual some people took advantage of that. Over time the nigerian press has shown a clear lack of understanding when it comes to such issues, maybe they should just stick to reporting owambes and the likes. Don't let me even start on the TCN angle sef... |

Perhaps they need to try 'specialisation'. May be that will make them improve. |

I voted for GEJ. My probatory period for him is December 2013. So far so good on some areas like power and Benin-Ore road. I have light for between 18-20 hours everyday. Could not believe that i passed through the notorious Ore without noticing and could not also believe my eyes when i stopped on the Auchi end of the Benin by-pass by 9:30am to buy bread.
