While I agree that Leo had an outstanding year, I believe sentiments are beginning to cloud voters' judgement on this matter. Football is a team sport and contribution to team success should carry more weight than individual brilliance and playing for a small team knocks you off the list altogether. In the current form, defenders and goalkeepers will never stand a chance of winning the Ballon D'or...

Ronaldo is a good player no doubt but his reign was overshadowed by Messi's hazardous football skills.

Oga Horlads in any generation, using any set of fair metrics with the same set of conditions and results as we had this past year, Messi would have still deserved the accolade. Individual brilliance contributes massively to team success.

I doubt this...Lampard is a legend at chelsea, he can never move to one of chelseas rival clubs...Just like drogba, he would prefer to leave the BPL....Ferguson should better remove his eyes from lampard

RVP is likely to win any laurel with Man United than with Arsenal. As a footballer, you'd rather go with glory than stay with an empty trophy cabinet at retirement. When RVP lifts the cup in May, there will be tears in his eyes knowing fully well that he contributed to to that cup. Banging in all sort of goals landed him in Champions league but scoring the same kind of goals with another club has given him 7 points clear on top of the table. I am sure RVP has never experienced that kind of lead in the EPL before. And the fans appreciate him.
