While I agree that Leo had an outstanding year, I believe sentiments are beginning to cloud voters' judgement on this matter. Football is a team sport and contribution to team success should carry more weight than individual brilliance and playing for a small team knocks you off the list altogether. In the current form, defenders and goalkeepers will never stand a chance of winning the Ballon D'or...

Pirlo was awesome for a rejuvenated Juventus and Italy during the Euros...

Ronaldo is a good player no doubt but his reign was overshadowed by Messi's hazardous football skills.
Messi is a genius wizard!!!!

Oga Horlads in any generation, using any set of fair metrics with the same set of conditions and results as we had this past year, Messi would have still deserved the accolade. Individual brilliance contributes massively to team success.
CR9 (and anybody else in this world who think they deserved the award this year) came at the wrong time, SIMPLES.

Ronaldo can only win the award if Messi is injured for one full season. Messi is something else. He will break the Ballon D'or awardee records ever collected by man and alien. He will get 10 before others start collecting.
By the way,why that boy no dey injure?

I doubt this...Lampard is a legend at chelsea, he can never move to one of chelseas rival clubs...Just like drogba, he would prefer to leave the BPL....Ferguson should better remove his eyes from lampard

True say lampard na core English man but remember that lampard is now a legend in chelsea and he would not want that name to be tarnished if he plays for man utd...Imagine him scoring a vital goal against chelsea in the BPL what do you think fans will do? definately fans will turn against him and i know he doesnt want that...A good example is RVP...see how arsenal fans dey beef the guy now...dem don forget say na him single handedly carry arsenal to 4th position last season....Torres too is another perfect example.......see how liverpool fans dey happy say d guy dey floop anyhow...

RVP is likely to win any laurel with Man United than with Arsenal. As a footballer, you'd rather go with glory than stay with an empty trophy cabinet at retirement. When RVP lifts the cup in May, there will be tears in his eyes knowing fully well that he contributed to to that cup. Banging in all sort of goals landed him in Champions league but scoring the same kind of goals with another club has given him 7 points clear on top of the table. I am sure RVP has never experienced that kind of lead in the EPL before. And the fans appreciate him.

Lampard knows that if Chelsea fans turn against him, the fans of the greatest club in Premier League history will be solidly behind him.

True, RVP is likely to lift the BPL with man utd this season but remember that the fans that will appreciate him are going to be man utd fans only and not his beloved arsenal that made him who he is today....Why? Van Persie has been at Arsenal for eight freaking years and he has also played epic encounters against their enemy(man utd)...Van Persie knows about the hatred, contempt and anger Arsenal fans have for Manchester United but yet went there becos he wants to win trophies(although i see sense in this) but arsenal fans see it as an act of sacrilege....

As for lampard, there is no reason for going to man utd...he has won the premiership,Facup, capital one cup, and now the premiership during his time in chelsea.. He has already made history..so i think see any reason why he will want to go to play for man utd and throw all the hard labour and love from club and fans into the ocean...I see him going to LA galaxy just like beckam did or going to another club but not man utd...If you recollect, fergusson was bidding seriously for drogba when he wasnt given another contract in chelsea, but he opted to go to china than to play for chelsea rival which is man utd...

Who cares? When he retires and he is looking at his cabinet full of trophies, he will not remember Arsenal fans' contempt or hatred...I know I will not if I were him.
