hi there, well the best time to buy a stock is when it has been marked down for dividend payment. iit is then said to begin a new cycle. However, for stocks that deliver anytime of the day like zenith bank, oceanic bank etc, you can join the flow anytime as they are technically sound.

Shares most times are cheap during the end of the year so you can also buy then. This is becauce most people are selling off to cater for the festivities.

Default End of year decline: True or False?

I've been watching the stock market for a number of years now especially around the end of year (christmas and new year period) hoping to cash in on the supposed bargain stocks to be gotten around that period, to my dissapointment.
I gues that all around the world, share prices generally decline around the end of year cos of the festivities but I can confidently say that this hasn't been so for the nigerian market, at least for the past 3 or 4 years. In fact if you really examine the trends, you'll find that many stocks even shoot-up around that period. It may be because so many speculators are waiting to buy around that period that we end up having more buyers than sellers. But whatever the case, history has proven that the best time to buy a stock is RIGHT now!
