Default What is your investment strategy

I just started reading the book "Buffett: Making Of an American Capitalist" and haven't gotten to his investment strategy yet but I just thought I pose the question here for those who are willing to share. I tend to invest based upon my broker's recommendation (LeadCapital, i always mention the name so that If there are bad news related to them, people can share with the rest of us). The first thing i look at in buying a stock is the PE ratio...what are some of u guys looking at? Do some of y'all go by gut?
