Stockbear Where Art Thou?

I know this is a site where we discuss all things serious about finances but hey, nothing wrong with a bit of fun...

I've been wondering where Stockbear has been since his last post on or around the 3rd of May. This guy single handedly updates the News Highlights thread and is ferocious in his research and is definitely a valued contributor to this site. His presence is sourly missed.

So for laughs, I'm starting a rumour about where he may have gone until he surfaces and sets us straight. My guess is NSE has made him soooo bloody rich, particularly his Dangote Sugar holdings, that he has purchased his own private island somewhere in Calabar where he is now chilling with his harem and sipping palm wine on his private beach.

Where do you reckon he is, people?

, Yeah, that must be it. Possibly spending some time in a Chalet at Obudu Ranch in Calabar too. Come to think of it, I dont think he can stay in a place where he can't monitor his stock prices. I say he is Obudu Ranch, enjoying it, but with an internet connection so he can monitor his stocks.

I would have readily agreed except that having lived my early life in Calabar, I know that there are no private beaches there. I also know that Obudu Cattle Ranch is not in Calabar, it is about 4 hours away by car. I think what may have caught his fancy is the new thing in Calabar, the Tinapa Business Resort (with its state of the art facilities) which opened for business last month. For those looking for investment-owning shops in Tinapa, it is worth looking at their website:http://www.tinapa.com. For those looking for fun, it might not be a bad idea to check it out. A friend from Austria went there last month and he has positive stories to tell.

Miss_Risky you are definitely something else I wish my absence can be attributable to your lovely "rumours", which I aspire to.

My absence is more to do with my work. My workload has increased greatly thereby encroaching on my quality time on the forum. As things even out you will notice my presence.

Anyone with query should feel free to PM me, and I'll do my best to respond, but remember the real GURU's in the house are C Kennths, Specnomics, Windywendy, Paragon, Avocado, Bwalaman(where is he?) and new gurus just about revealing their expertise.

I forsee a point in time when a section of SMN will be for "special priviledged members only" access will be on the basis of, number of "valuable" contributions to the growth and value of the forum.

This private area will contain only the juiciest topics and and indept stock info.

i am always looking forward to this website whenever i get to my office. it is really very educating.

ibtc website is also the bomb. it helps to predict and advise you on which stocks to buy or sell. the stock u should hold/sell off.

U can get there thru this link http://research.ibtc.com/ and choose stock select. Apart from stock select, there are other information on the site, like report of listed companies.

infact just visit and enjoy yourself.

Hey Mr Stock bear! Some members of this forum are still coming to grips with what it takes to invest in the stock market. I'm sure these members will find it particularly unwelcome to hear there is (or will be) an exclusive club for those with the most "valuable" contributions. I wish to express my appreciation for the information you and other members of this forum have "unselfishly" shared and believe that as personal experience in the market grows, new and inexperienced members will increasingly have "valuable" contributions to post.

in as much as i like the sound of that "exclusive club", i would have to kick against it.

this why. if the criteria would have to be the number of contributions, then someone like Alanbow (whom we have all come to like and love) with his contributions will not be part of that forum since he just joined of recent.

this "will" happento many new good analysts. dont forget too that not everyonwe of us here have constant internet connection.

lets keep it simple ok?

DotunK - I hear you loud and clear. By valuable contribution, I meant quality and not quantity. So in fact, if the decision was mine, Alanbow has my votes and so do you.

When and if this does go through, it will in no way diminish the forum as we have all come to know it. The truth is every investor is looking for an edge over and above everyone else. Having such an edge is exclusive isn't it?

All decision as to how it will be, and if it will be implemented rests with EIC and Paragon.

The whole point of this forum is to share ideas;provide enlightenment; exchange different perceptions of our own realities; and assist in provision of a wealth creation platform.

Albert Einstein once said that " Every man I come across in life is my superior, even one deemed an idiot, because I can learn something valuable from him". We gain from every single post here; not only from those deemed "guru's".

So when all the self appointed "experts" meet in their own area of the forum to the exclusion of all others what next ?

The strenght of this forum is in the sum of all the components and certainly not in the perceptions of a few.

I believe that this defeats the total purpose of this beautiful medium.

Eriksbmw: Many come to this forum to leach, especially amongst us registered members. Everything you put forward I accept and agree with but are you truly willing to share info that you alone are privy to with anyone on this forum?

Especially info that you know will make you a handsome profit?

Very few people in the know, come here to share, in the true sense of the word. They come here to gain from what others share.

Such people in a sense are already in their own exclusive club where they share with only three people, "me", "myself" and "I".
