Question Dagote Flour and NAFDAC

Realy intresting threads. Glad I stumbled across this site. My concern relates to the high expectations for Dagote flour when it goes public and if the current problems with NAFDAC will affect its stock from an investment perspective

I thought the problem that dangote flour and other flour millers had with NAFDAC was resolved long ago and the factories were re-opened shortly after the incident.

Dangote had a peculiar problem with their mill in Kano which was closed. Not sure if it is now opened.

I have not found anything on the internet about the Dangote/NAFDAC saga. Please supply more info for those not in Nigeria

It was re-opened shortly after -- i'm read that way back in March 2007. Just don't remember which newspaper it was right now.

The factory was closed a few months ago by NAFDAC because they had labels on thier bags of sugar suggesting it had been fortified with Vitamins A and I think D. NAFDAC found this to be a false claim. Intentional or Oversight - your guess is as good as mine.

But sounds like that storm is over from the responces above. Still curious though what that does for investor confidence or is the NSE still largely a demand driven market

Dangote Flour has many mills. The one that was closed was in kano or so. Don't think the particular line is opened now. Dangote lied that the product was fortified with Vit A. Their claim was since only a product line was affected why shut down the whole plant in Kano. The other locations are still producing.

Dangote management only claimed that their staff eroneously used the labels meant for product fortified with vitamin A to label unfortified products. They issued a press statement to this effect and have also called back the batches affected. They also reminded the public that they have been compliant to NAFDAC directives as they ve finalisedarrangements on fortifying their semovita with vit A. I will crosscheck if the factory in Kano has been reopened for production and let the forum know

Please do!!!!

Read in the papers to do that Dora did not make the ministerial list because of the NAFDAC/Dangote factory issue!!!! That sounds unbelievable.

There are still principalities in Nigeria.....Despite all Dora did in NAFDAC. I hope it is just a silly rumour.
