I mentioned this idea few months back to have a thread where we could always update with rumors, hard news, big player taking positions, privy info etc but, going by what I'm seeing many folks are just keeping this to their heart.
What I intend for this thread is for folks to post anything info no matter how inconsequential- rumors, hard news, privy info, big player taking positions or exiting, govt policies etc It could even be as little as seeing unsual mopping or dumping of shares.

I'm going to list two Big players that I know are Naija.
I have also provided a link of their current Naija porfolio

Actis
Actis: Portfolio:
Eg UAC

IFC
IFC Home
Eg $75million in Obajana Cement in 2005. International Finance Corporation - Search Press Releases (English)

There's another third one which name escapes me now.

There is this unconfirmed rumour that FCMB have started to mop up its own stocks preparatory to a public offering.

They might be trying to pump up the price.

Its no secret that banks mop up their stocks, to drive up prices before any offer. Check out the trends for all the banks that have had offers this year. There is a steep rise just before the offer, suggesting that the 'strategic investors' are buying up excess supply.
I don't think now is the time to take position in FCMB though, not sure how much further the stock can rise.

Some insiders at FBN are swearing that the bank will issue an e-allotment and e-bonus after its recently concluded offer.

If this happens, the price may not climb as high as we previously calculated.

How do you think this will affect investors?

I reckon for as long as the merger talk between FBN and Eco Bank remains on the table, investors may not be so quick to sell their shares following the e-allotments. This can only lead to the usual 'scarcity syndrome' we often witness in our dear market and the subsequent (if artificial?) increase in price. How high it then goes, remains to be seen...

their bonus came via e-crediting last year, so i think they will make do their plan to also credit this year bonus and allotment through same means.
but really, i dont see reason their wont be demand enough to cause appreciation. however, lets see how it goes, already it has started upward movement on frieday (31st aug) and today 03sept, is still going up, so we see how far it can go.

Default Rumours

There is this rumour that Union Bank will give a bonus of 1:4. Will this step the price up?
