A stock should not become stronger or more attractive by halving it's volume and doubling the price for instance. This is a sentimental investment analysis.
It would have been slightly different if brokerage charges are paid on volumes and not the price. If volumes come to play, brokers will find lower valued stocks attractive since they will make more commission for the same amount of Naira sale or purchase. This will help the shares to be more active on the floor and enhance it's "retail" value. However, this does not apply in Nigeria. The commision paid is on the value of the stock and not the quantity. This is the case in many other countries. Wether a company reconstructs or not, stock movement should depend on performance and prospects. It is the anomaly of the Nigerian stock market where stock prices can go up due to bonus issues and stock splits even though it is immediately followed by an official mark-down. ![]() Enjoy. Gents,
I am just joining this forum so forgive me for taking us back on this Dunlop issue. I purchased the last Dunlop hybrid offer and have not seen my certificates. Did anyone on forum purchase this offer and have you seen certs? Is this reconstruction of Dunlop going to happen or have the Share holders shut it down? Is it a good time to buy more Dunlop shares and what is happening to the ban on importation of tyres? ![]() ![]() |

Expect reconstruction of shares all over. Otherwise no more bonus issues which is what the nigerian shareholder thrives on. |

To answer bblqk69's question, yes I got my certifcates about 3 months ago. I actually went over to the registrar's office to pick them up. (Union Registrars - Apapa). Im aware that folks who applied for less than 100,000 units have received their certificates, while those with more than 100,000 are expected to extract or delegate someone to pick up (another strategy at delaying share certificates dematerialisation).
![]() Good luck. Cheers...B |

B,
thanks for the reply. I will be awaiting to hear from the registrars as the amount I purchased was more than 100,000units I guess you dont have information about the proposed ban on importation of tyres? Regards, bblqk69 |

Thanks a bunch, you have been of help I have got my certificate now.
Once people start getting, I guess they will register and start selling. This will make the price go down and a good buying chance might surface. Dunlop could perform like Wapco next year gaining 300-400%!! This however depends on what the Quaterly results are.. |

I didn't even hear about any acquisition plan. All I found out is that michelin is still bringing in finished goods into Nigeria from outside, so in that regard they still operate in the market.
They only stopped production in this country. |

I think it will depend a lot on what your objective was before you bought the stock. If you mean it to be your long term holding, then there is no need to sell now, since nothing has changed fundamentally at Dunlop.
On the other hand if it is a short term investment in the beginning, and you see your objective is not realisable in the short term, then you will have to move at a loss, I hate to do this but you plan it along with your profit plans as well, you either gain or you lose. |

Ikevic,i don't think dunlop is a bad stock considering that most stock has been bearish these past weeks n i believe this will continue till year ending. If ur sole aim is long term, then i advise u keep holding

This company has been hammerd lately,Whatz ur take on the shares at the current levels. Do u think it will slip further. The volume of the trade has been increasing which means some one is piling up the stock.
